WhatsApp Enables Netflix Videos Viewing inside iOS Version of the App

Facebook-owned messenger app, WhatsApp, is working hard from the recent past to make video watching experience seamless for users. Previously, when users tend to view a shared video inside the messenger app, it used to redirect them to the respective apps or the web browser for viewing. However, the past updates enabled videos from video-sharing platform YouTube and social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to play within the app.

With the latest update, the users can view the shared videos or preview links from the video streaming app Netflix inside Whatsapp itself. However, the feature is currently applicable for viewing only trailers for Netflix shows which can be shared and viewed by the users within the app. In the future, the feature is expected to include full-length videos from Netflix.

The Netflix trailers that are shared by the users can be played inside the messenger app just like videos from YouTube or Facebook. Upon clicking the shared link of a Netflix trailer, a big thumbnail will pop up where the ‘Play’ icon will show up. The video can be played by tapping on the ‘Play’ icon.

The update has been rolled out for the iOS version of the app, for now, that means only Apple iPhone users will be able to use the feature. It is expected to roll out to other operating systems as well in the future. Other popular video streaming apps such as Amazon Prime Video might be included in the upcoming updates.

A few days back, WhatsApp has rolled out a new update for the Apple iPhone users that included a number of new features such as the ability to hide the display notification badges for messages and Group Privacy Settings.

WhatsApp is yet to roll out the much-anticipated Dark Mode or Dark Theme on iOS 13. It has been reported that developers of the app are working on a number of configurations for the theme that is implementing dark blue night colours or soft dark colours for table and cell background inside the app for iPhones.
