Qualcomm, a leading chipset manufacturer, revealed the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 to the world on 18th March 2024. The latest chipset, an addition to Qualcomm’s lineup of processors is powered with high performance and power efficiency. The “s” in the name indicates a budget-friendly chipset variant of the Snapdragon 8 series flagship.

At the same time as Qualcomm’s new addition to the SD series announcement, several Chinese manufacturers including Honor, iQOO, realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi, started teasing new models that will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. Among these teasers was Xiaomi, which hinted at its upcoming device, the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro, featuring the new chipset. These teasers typically include images or short videos that highlight key features of the upcoming smartphones, such as the chipset, camera capabilities, or design elements.

An unreleased model from Xiaomi’s Civi series, rumored to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset and identified by the code “24031PN0DC,” has been speculated to be the unbranded version of the Xiaomi Civi 4.

Digital Chat Station, a well-known source for smartphone leaks and rumors, has corroborated rumors that Xiaomi is planning to release the Civi 4 under a different name or branding in certain markets. In a tip on Weibo, he shared that Xiaomi is rebranding Civi 4 Pro as the Xiaomi 14 Lite for regions outside China.

Xiaomi is gearing up for the Civi 4 Pro launch in China, with the company recently confirming the processor details of the handset. In a Weibo post, Xiaomi revealed the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro launch timeline. It is set to happen in China on March 21 at 2:00 PM local time (11:30 AM IST).

Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro teaser shows that it is a “Pro Performance, Pro Imaging, and Pro Design” mid-range segment offering. The teaser gives a peek into design elements and 4 different color options teasing some of its key features. Xiaomi has confirmed in its teaser that the Civi 4 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, thereby ensuring high performance.

Specifically, it will feature even bezels, flat edges, a metallic middle frame with the same leather material as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and a curved display similar to the Xiaomi 14 Pro. These similarities suggest that Xiaomi is aiming for a cohesive design language across its product lineup.

The Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro utilizes an advanced Kona leather material known for its durability and luxurious feel. Kona leather is wear-resistant and also dirt-resistant, making it easier to maintain the phone’s cleanliness. Finally, the Kona leather is anti-aging, meaning it will maintain its quality and appearance over time, giving the phone a long-lasting premium look.

The main camera setup includes a Leica Summilux lens, known for its high quality in various lighting conditions. Additionally, there is a 2X optical zoom telephoto lens, indicating the phone’s optical zoom capabilities.

In the phone’s teaser image, one can make out an IR blaster at the top for infrared device control with a vent for speakers. The slightly curved screen is estimated to provide a comfortable grip and a sleek look.

One can also make 3 colors and they are Breeze Blue, Soft Mist Pink, and Spring Field Green (Chinese names translated into English). The green variant of the Civi 4 Pro will feature a rear panel made of both glass and faux leather. This combination of materials is likely chosen for its visual appeal and tactile feel, offering users a unique and luxurious experience. The spring-themed artwork of the French impressionist painter Claude Monet is the inspiration behind the green variant of the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro. In other words, Xiaomi is striving to capture the vibrant and refreshing essence of Monet’s spring-themed paintings in the design of the iPhone.
