OnePlus is one of the most popular brands for premium Android smartphones. It came out of nowhere, and today it makes one of the best premium smartphones and offers them at an acceptable price.
The brand is known for its two phone launches each year, a numbered model such as OnePlus 6 and a T model, like OnePlus 6T. We got the numbered model during the first half of the year and the T model during the second half. However, last year, it made a change to this pattern we got two phones in the first half, the OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7 followed by the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro later.
This year, it seems we will be getting another new entry in the first half of the year. OnePlus has revealed a new phone, the OnePlus 8 Lite. On the 11th of January, we got the first glance of this new phone, and it is supposed to be launched within the coming week. As per the news, the release date is the 16th of January 2020.
The phone looks pretty good and has decent hardware under its hood. As always, OnePlus tries to deliver the best chipset with its phone. But in order to keep the upcoming OnePlus 8 relevant, Oneplus has decided to with the Mediatek 1000 Dimensity chipset instead of the usual 800 series. Still, the phone would be pretty fast, and in typical cases, you wouldn’t notice any difference in performance.
OnePlus 8 Lite has adopted design features from OnePlus 8 Pro, especially the punch-hole design. The phone also comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla glass protection. The resolution is going to be 90Hz 1080×2340 with a pixel density of 404 PPI and a screen to body ratio of 85 percent. It will also feature an in-screen fingerprint scanner for unlocking purposes.
As for the rear camera, we get a triple-camera setup with a 48 MP primary camera and 16 MP secondary camera and a third 12 MP camera. The front camera boasts 16 MP. You can record 4K video with the back camera. However, the front camera will only support 1080p videos.
The phone will run the latest Android skin from OnePlus, ie. OxygenOS 10 and the base model will offer 8GB RAM and 128 GB ROM without any expandable memory options. It will feature a 4000 mAh battery with the dash charge option and comes with an IP53 dust and water resistance rating. It will cost around ₹31000 at launch.
Overall, it will be another decent entry from OnePlus, and you should consider it as a viable option if your budget is in that range.
