When will Vivo Y20 get the Android 12 update?
July has been greatly promising for Vivo users with the pending rollout of the Funtouch OS 12 update coming by. One such model that users are desperate to get informed about is the budget segment smartphone Vivo Y20.
The model was initially launched as an entry-level smartphone in 2020 running on Android 10 based on Funtouch OS 10.5. But the popularity of the Vivo Y20 led to the release of an upgraded Vivo Y20 2021 version with minor upgrades. The company recently promised 3 major Android OS and security updates for its selective flagship devices, released after July 2021.
Vivo Y20 has already received a major OS update as Android 11 and is in line for the next and last Android 12 update based on the Funtouch OS 12.0. Since it does not fall in the flagship category and got a launch in 2020, the users cannot expect the upcoming Android 13 to roll out to Vivo Y20.
As per the Funtouch OS 12 rollout schedule, V17 Pro, V17, S1 Pro, Y73, Y51, Y20, Y20i, and Y30 started receiving the beta build. It is not recommended to install the beta build since it will have bugs and interfere with normal functions. Those who have installed are complaining of phone lag and apps getting crashed issues. The build number is PD2034EF_EX_A_38.15.7 and needs a size of 3.39GB.
However, Vivo has confirmed the stable rollout of Android 12 to its budget-centric Vivo Y20 smartphone to happen in the third quarter of 2022. Few users from Chile have confirmed that they have received a stable update. However, the company has informed us that the delay is due to the time being taken in fixing the bugs and greyscale testing is still ongoing. A larger rollout is likely to happen by end of Q3 2022.
In the meantime, you can keep an eye on the new updates by visiting the Settings and the OS version.
Features of the Funtouch OS 12
The new update is not centered on major design changes. Instead, Vivo’s FunTouch OS 12 focuses on some incremental upgrades. The Chinese smartphone company has confirmed features like a redesigned UI, the addition of new widgets, extended RAM support, and more!
The update will also introduce a new mini music player on the homepage. This will enable users of Vivo Y20 and other eligible models to have great control over their music playback. According to the latest info, this widget will have support for both Spotify and JOOX.
Along with all this, Vivo users will also get to see a new ‘Sticker’ feature with this update. Using this, you can easily select and add stickers like reminders, notes, water intake, and more on your homepage. Additionally, you can also customize the colors and background of these stickers!
