A few months ago, the company shared with its users the timeline for the upcoming Funtouch OS 11 update and eligible devices. It is based on the 2020 version of Google’s operating system, Android 11.

Unlike other smartphone manufacturers that have delayed the Android 11 launch (looking at you, Xiaomi), Vivo has stuck to its scheduled dates. This time it is the turn of the much-awaited vivo V15 to receive Android 11 based Funtouch OS 11 update.

When will vivo V15 get an Android 11 update?

While addressing a query on Twitter, Vivo India revealed that Funtouch OS 11 update has been released under greyscale testing to select vivo V15 users. A gradual rollout is under works, and the update should be available to everyone in the coming days.

If Vivo can follow its set timeline, the update should be available sometime by the end of June. A grayscale test ensures that there are no major bugs. For vivo V15, the brand has released the update before the planned rollout schedule.

The vivo V15 Android 11 update download can be checked manually by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

vivo V15 was launched in February 2019 and came with Android 9.0 out of the box. The phone had received a Funtouch OS 10 based on the Android 10 update and is now getting ready for the second major software update – Funtouch OS 11. Thanks to Google starting to provide two major OS updates, several smartphone manufacturers have adopted the same approach.

Back in March, its Pro counterpart, vivo V15 Pro had received the Funtouch OS 11 update.

Vivo V11 Pro Android 11 update coming

Vivo is on target in rolling out Android 11 updates to its other models as well. Sources suggest that the Vivo V11 Pro will also be receiving Funtouch OS 11 update. The news comes from a Vivo Brand Advisor. The update is likely to land in the first week of July.

However, it is not official. We can only hope for the best. It seems that this will be the last major update to the 2019 Vivo lineup. The company’s past track record suggests the same. Having said that, the phones will surely receive some security updates and bug fixes.

  1. After the latest fun_OS upgrade PD1832F_EX_E_8.7.19, my V15 pro lost wifi & network functionality. Tried downloading update from their site via computer but bogus downloading feature. Sucks
