Apple AirPods Pro 2 has lately been the subject of mixed reviews, with some users experiencing various technical glitches. A thread on the social media site Reddit asked if anyone else had experienced problems with their AirPods Pro. The response was overwhelming, with users reporting glitches such as connection issues, battery drain problems, and ear recognition issues.

What are AirPods Pro 2 issues?

One user reported that their AirPods Pro was “being overall weird,” and that although the problems were small, they were frustrating, given the cost of the product. Others had experienced similar problems, such as charging cases depleting faster than usual, abnormal battery drain on idle, battery percentage not showing up, and the battery case losing charge quickly. Some users even experienced problems with only one of their AirPods, which stopped picking up their voice or stopped working entirely.

One of the common issues is the charging case battery depletes pretty quickly and the battery percentage doesn’t show up instantly after opening the case.

Despite these reports, not all users experienced problems with their AirPods Pro. Some users said they had no issues at all and that their AirPods were still “good as new.” However, given the overwhelming response from users experiencing problems, it is clear that some AirPods Pro owners are having technical difficulties.

One user suggested that the glitching could be due to the Find My features, which allow users to track their AirPods if they are lost or stolen. Others suggested that updating their phone software solved the problem. Some users have had to replace one side of their AirPods, which costs more than half the price of a new pair.

A few users are reporting missing custom engraving not showing up on the iPhone. Apple care confirmed that it’s a known bug and one has to wait for the next firmware update 5B59.

Another Airpods Pro 2 issue that users are complaining about is audio drifting. With Noise canceling off and Ambience off, the podcast audio always shifts.

Although it is unclear how widespread these problems are, the Reddit thread shows that some AirPods Pro owners are experiencing technical difficulties. It is essential to note that Apple offers a limited warranty on their products, and if you experience any problems with your AirPods Pro, you should contact Apple Support.

AirPods Pro 2 – How to fix these bugs?

Users are reporting various issues, such as the charging case depleting faster than usual, the battery percentage not displaying on the phone, connectivity issues, buzzing noise, small audio glitches, ear recognition issues, voice recognition issues, charging issues, and glitches with the Find My feature. Some users have tried updating their phone software, and it resolved the issue. However, other users have reported that the glitching continues despite various troubleshooting measures. The users are frustrated, given the price of the AirPods Pro 2, and they expect Apple to address these issues as soon as possible.

Battery percentage not showing on iPhone/iPad

Discovering the battery life percentage of your AirPods is a bit more complicated than simply glancing at your laptop or cellphone. However, there are three primary methods to check the battery life of your AirPods on your iPhone or iPad. The first approach is to use the automatic pop-up feature, which shows the name of your AirPods, and the battery life percentage of both buds and the charging case, but only works when the AirPods are inside the case. To make it work, turn on Bluetooth on the iPhone/iPad that has been paired with the AirPods, and open the AirPods case near the device.

Alternatively, the battery widget is a more convenient option for most users, as it enables you to see your AirPods’ battery life without the case. To set up the iOS battery widget, tap and hold on an empty part of your home screen until the app icons shake, tap the ‘+’ in the upper-left corner, select ‘Batteries,’ swipe right or left to choose a widget format, tap ‘+ Add Widget,’ and drag the widget to your desired location.

Another method is to use Siri, which enables you to check the battery level by speaking out loud unless you’ve turned on ‘Type to Siri.’ To activate Siri, say ‘Hey Siri’ or press and hold the home or side/top button, depending on your device model. You can ask Siri in a natural language user interface, such as ‘How much battery life do my AirPods have?’ or ‘What is the AirPods’ battery level?’ If you’re not wearing the AirPods, you need to ask specifically about the case or AirPods themselves.

Buzzing Sounds in AirPods Pro 2

Here are the steps to fix the buzzing in one ear of your AirPods Pro 2 by activating noise-cancellation using rain sounds:

  1. Open up the Settings menu on your iPhone and head to the Accessibility section.
  2. Select your AirPods on the next list and open their Audio Accessibility options.
  3. Look for the Background Sounds section and turn on the Background Sounds switch. A slider should be present for these Sounds.
  4. Set the Background Noise type to “Rain” and set the volume on the slider to zero. This will activate a specific noise-cancellation in your AirPods that should fix them buzzing in one ear.

One AirPod not charging

If you encounter a problem where one of your AirPods won’t charge while the other charges fine, don’t fret, there are several things you can try at home before contacting Apple or returning the AirPods.

Step 1: Check the Charging Case Battery Level

  1. Place both AirPods inside the charging case and close the lid.
  2. Bring the case close to your iPhone and open the lid.
  3. Check the battery level of the charging case and both AirPods on the screen.
  4. If the battery level of the charging case is less than 10%, charge the case with a Lightning cable.

Step 2: Reinsert the AirPod

If the charging case has enough battery but one AirPod still isn’t charging, remove any accessories on the AirPod such as foam ear tips, then try reinserting the AirPod and check if the charging icon appears next to it when you bring the AirPods close to your iPhone.

If the charging icon still doesn’t appear, clean the contacts on the AirPod and inside the charging case.

Step 3: Clean the AirPod and Charging Case

  • Take a lint-free or microfiber cloth and clean the silver contacts at the end of the AirPod stem.
  • Use a periodontal brush or a straw cleaner to clean the internal contact points in each AirPod bay inside the charging case.
  • If you encounter any stubborn grime, use a Q-tip moistened with water or 70% isopropyl alcohol to work over the dirty area.
  • Clean the AirPods and charging case every week to maintain proper contact.

Step 4: Reset AirPods

  • If none of the above methods works, reset your AirPods to their factory settings.
  • Put your AirPods in their case and close the lid.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then open the lid.
  • Go to Settings > Name of your AirPods or Settings > Bluetooth and tap the circled “i” icon next to your AirPods.
  • Scroll to the bottom and tap “Forget This Device”, then tap again to confirm.

With the AirPods case lid open, press and hold the button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds until you see the status light flashing amber. With the case lid open, place your AirPods close to your device and follow the steps on your device’s screen to reconnect your AirPods.

And that’s all there is to it. Remember to clean your AirPods regularly to avoid any charging problems in the future.

Adding your AirPods to the Find My app has numerous benefits, such as the ability to make them play a sound if one or both of the buds are lost. Additionally, Find My allows you to view a map showing the last known location of your AirPods, even if they are not currently connected. Latest Firmware update on AirPods Pro 2

Users have reported getting cases replaced a couple of times but the issues continue to bother so obviously it’s not a hardware issue. It is more of a software issue that Apple needs to resolve. Apple is expected to resolve the battery and case issues in the upcoming firmware update 5B59 on AirPods Pro 2.

AirPods Pro 2 – Should I buy it?

sound upgrade is well worth the purchase!

Worth the upgrade in my opinion. (Maybe not if you just bought gen 1 but mine were bought at launch).

Reddit will make things sound worse than they are because it’s where people come to complain.

I’d say I had more issues with my gen 1 than my gen 2.

The sound signature has a little more low end. Especially with noise cancellation on. In my personal preference it’s better.

The adaptive transparency is really useful for me at work.

They haven’t had any of the crackling issues like the gen 1s that I had to get replaced twice.

I use mine all day at work and need to charge the case maybe every 3-4 days give or take.

Noise cancellation works better. I have noticed that if dust gets in the vents it’s degrades a little bit it’s still better than gen 1, I have a hearing aid vacuum that works well.

The AirPods Pro 2 has active noise cancellation that’s twice as powerful as that of the first-gen model, adaptive transparency, and personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking for immersive sound. They have four different-sized ear tips and provide up to 6 hours of listening time, plus up to 24 hours of extra listening time with the included case.

Touch controls let you swipe to adjust volume, press to control media playback, answer or end calls, and switch between listening modes. The earbuds and charging case are both sweat- and water-resistant, making them ideal workout earbuds, and the charging case is MagSafe-compatible with a lanyard loop to help you not lose them. Find My support is built-in if you do, though. Rest, it depends on your usage and whether you are willing to spend bucks on Apple or any other TWS in the market.

Summing It Up

As discussed above, users are reporting various issues, such as the charging case depleting faster than usual, the battery percentage not displaying on the phone, connectivity issues, buzzing noise, small audio glitches, ear recognition issues, voice recognition issues, charging issues, and glitches with Find My feature.

Some users have even tried updating their phone software, and it resolved the issue – However, it doesn’t work for everyone – that’s why we have come up with potential workarounds that might do the job for you – other users have reported that the glitching continues despite various troubleshooting measures. The users are frustrated, given the price of the AirPods Pro 2, and they expect Apple to address these issues as soon as possible.

The provided workarounds will possibly work for you – as they did for some of us – just in case it doesn’t ease the job or if you have any other workaround, feel free to drop a comment below.
