The Promised Neverland Season 3 Reboot- A Renewed Hope

Share post:

There are often cases where the anime reproductions of a manga often do a grave injustice to its story. “The Promised Neverland” belongs to such a category. Season 2 had a rushed and rather distasteful ending that hardly justified the macabre qualities the manga had. It has been slightly over a month that The Promised Neverland Season 2 ended. Fans have started speculations about the 3rd Season. They somehow wantThe Promised Neverland” Season 3 to undo the failures of its previous season and live up to its original glory. Or will it? Here’s our take on the infamous Season 2 and its consequential reboot.

What went wrong with “The Promised Neverland” Season 2?

Talking about this subject is the idiomatic equivalent of flogging a dead horse. Regardless, certain failures of The Promised Neverland Season 2 will end up being the redeeming qualities of Season 3.

The Promised Neverland Season 2 Episode 1 aired on January 8, 2021. Season 2 had 11 episodes as well as a special one before concluding on 26th March 2021. The anime fans who had waited since Season 2 was announced bombarded the makers with plenty of criticism.

The writing was abysmal and the story often had several key factors completely eliminated. Several opportunities for character development were strangely missing. Not to mention a disappointing ending that tied up all its faults into a neat little box.

Condensing 144 chapters worth of content into 11 episodes is one extreme end of the spectrum. The other extreme is when 2 chapters are stretched into 10 episodes (I’m looking at you DBZ and Naruto). Those who read the manga found the storytelling messed up on several points. As for those who haven’t, well they sure got bamboozled. Out of disappointment, the fans gave 6.2 on MyAnimeList to Season 2.

Norman’s battle and eventual victory over the demons was yet another significant highlight that was overlooked. Besides missing huge chunks of the story, alterations have been made where the anime fails to follow the manga. Isabelle’s sacrifice is replaced with a much more “audience-friendly” ending. Moreover, Emma’s crucial sacrifice of giving away her memories is given a stab in the back with a much more ambiguous ending where she stays behind to supposedly “help more kids escape”.

Will there be The Promised Neverland Season 3 Release Date?

The Promised Neverland Season 3 Release Date

What will be the promised neverland season 3 release date? CloverWorks has not officially confirmed that “the promised neverland Season 3” happening. The anime fans are keeping their fingers crossed to hear news about renewal. Practically speaking probability of the promised neverland Season 3 happening sometime in the future is bleak. It is because the entire storyline spread across 144 chapters (15 volumes) of manga has been condensed into 11 episodes of Season 2.

The makers have not come back and confirmed that Season 2 was the final season. But the possibility of hearing about a spin-off arc or even a reboot in the future cannot be ruled out.

Hypothetically speaking if “The Promised Neverland Season 3” is announced, it should air in the time frame of Spring or Summer 2022. The date has arrived by doing back calculations of the release dates of Season 1 and Season 2. The Promised Neverland Season 1 was revealed in May 2018 and aired 7 months after in January 2019. Season 2 was announced in March 2019 and premiered in January 2021. The delay was due to pandemic-forced lockdowns moving the planned October 2020 release to January 2021.

The Promised Neverland Season 3 Spoilers

The Promised Neverland Season 3 Spoilers

As it stands, fans of Season 1 of the show are better off reading the manga. Not only is there a better storyline and character development, but the ending is pretty good too.

As for the Tpn Season 3 re-adaptation, we could very well expect a full-scale re-imagining of the manga to anime. Perhaps we would get a Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood treatment or it could be worked from the ground up. There aren’t any specific details regarding “the promised neverland Season 3” release, you could expect it sometime towards the end of this year or perhaps in the Spring 2022 Anime releases.

The anime series is being produced by the animation studio CloverWorks, which is known for producing the popular, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. Although the original manga creator Kaiu Shirai is heading the Season 3 project, it’s worthwhile to remember that Season 2 lapse in quality was under his guidance as well.

The OP and ED are yet to be released although their names, “Identity” and “Maho” have been assigned respectively.

The promised neverland Season 3 will perhaps let go of many of the literary contrivances that bugged its former series. The convenient arrival of the good guys, the sudden flush of new information, and the tendency for a messed-up situation to suddenly turn out okay is annoying enough. Hopefully, CloverWorks and the Director realize these mistakes soon enough.
