With Android 12 on its way, Xiaomi has unveiled its 2021 plans for MIUI 13 release. The customized skin used by Xiaomi is MIUI, built on top of Google’s Android. The current stable version rolled out by OEM is MIUI 12.5. There are several models that are waiting for their turn to receive MIUI 12.5, but Xiaomi is in the mood to bring MIUI 13 update to them.

MIUI 13 Supported Devices
As expected MIUI 13 update rollout will be done to its Redmi, Xiaomi, and Poco brand smartphones. Following the standard practice, the rollout will be a phased one.
This is not official yet, but a speculated one on the basis of the launch date and Xiaomi’s policy to get MIUI updates for four years. Also, going by the trend of releasing software updates, MIUI 13 will be rolled out to its latest flagships first. The older and the lower-end devices will probably receive a delayed timeline.

MIUI 13 Release Date
MIUI 13 launch in India was rumored to happen sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2021, probably in May or June. Since MIUI 12 release date happened in May 2020, it was assumed MIUI 13 will also follow a similar timeline and release schedule.
The exact MIUI 13 release date has not been confirmed officially but we have news from GizChina. Xiaomi is set to unveil on June 25. Traditionally the launch date is for China only region and will be followed by a global launch. MIUI 13 update (developer preview) followed by the first MIUI 13 beta download will be made available to testers after the launch in few weeks.
MIUI 13 Features
There are not many MIUI 13 leaks this time. One feature has been confirmed by GizChina and that is Memory Expansion. The feature will help the low RAM phones boost their memory while playing videos or games.
MIUI 13 wallpapers are rumored to have new Live Backgrounds and themes. As always expect some design-related changes.
