It’s about that time of the year when every tech enterprise gears up for the upcoming release events. Gaming communities gather ’round to show off the latest improvements; PC enthusiasts discussed numbers and potential development in the GPU market. Xiaomi does have a few releases lined up as well. However, the question remains as to whether the new offerings are worth considering. Here is our take on Redmi Note 10 series’ latest bug, Note 10 Pro slow charging problem.

What is the Redmi Note 10 Pro slow charging problem?

I can understand the logic behind the majority of Xiaomi’s budget line-up of devices. An average consumer would have access to better tech specs for a much-reduced price in a competitive market. Yet, the corners cut by the OEM are awry sometimes and lead to frustration.

Before the Redmi Note 10 Pro slow charging problem, we did discuss a situation where an exposed gap between the camera module and the rear panel of the Redmi Note 10. It was by no means a one-off event.

It’s worth mentioning that the “camera gap” didn’t pose severe threats to the life of the phone because of the protective slide between the camera module and the body of the phone. And for those who wished to go the extra step, this is a comprehensive look at the subject.

Now coming back to the topic at hand, many users who could lay their hands on the units found that the devices are not charging at the speeds the company claims. The Redmi Note 10 Pro specs for battery charging reads “Fast charging 33W, 59% in 30 min (advertised)”

However, it is charging at a rate of 25W rather than the committed rate of 33W. Users found that the charging time of the Redmi Note 10 Pro with a 33W charger from 0 to 100% took 100 minutes. In other words, 1% per minute is the charging rate without wifi/data/bluetooth on.

Note 10 Pro charging issues

It is speculated that Redmi Note 10 series is not inbuilt with MMT technology like its counterparts Mi 10i and POCO X3. Not many users have complained about the issue and that is the reason Xiaomi is not available for comments. It cannot be said for certainty that Note 10 Pro slow charging problem is due to a software glitch or compromised hardware.

The issue of slow charging is not new to Redmi devices. The earlier generations of Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 8 Pro have reported the issues. Most users claim that the issue began after usage of 6 months- 1 year.

Previously, devices upgraded to the MIUI 12 user interface had complaints about poor battery life/retention. Even so, the majority of the issues could be solved by the users themselves by turning off auto-enabled apps and/or disabling programs running in the background.

A potential solution to Note 10 Pro slow charging problem

One method we could suggest is starting a restart/reboot sequence. It allows the device to get a little downtime while switching off any background apps.

Try charging your phone after switching it off; there won’t be as much interference in the background. If that fails to work, you could always try the good ol’ factory reset.

If you’re handy with OS installation try to step down from the MIUI 12 platform to a lower bench. Since we know that the problem lies with the software and that MIUI 12 has a history of battery drainage issues, it would be better to stick to the previous generations of UI.

On a simple note, avoid using the device while it’s charging. Not only does it impede the charging process, but also messes up the battery. It’s worth monitoring the battery’s performance as well. User Anshuman Singh, suggests using a Play Store app that monitors battery behavior.

That’s pretty much all there is on our end. Do you face a similar problem on your Note 10 device? Then do let us know. For more similar updates and tech news head over to our website.
