On the first day of its release, the latest Gundam series “Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway of the Flash” (Kidō Senshi Gundam: Senkō no Hathaway) earned box office earnings of over 190 million yen (US$1.7 million). The figure is 337% more than Gundam’s previous anime movie Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative as per Cinema Today.
In April 2018, makers had announced 3 part anime film adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway. These 3 movies are set 12 years after the Second Neo Zeon War. The leader of Mafty, a terrorist organization is the protagonist of the movie. He is Hathaway Noa, son of Bright Noah.
After getting postponed 3 times, the Gundam Hathaway movie release date in Japan was finalized for 11th June. Gundam Hathaway 2020 had received a premiere date in July 2020, but due to COVID-19 restrictions in Japan, it got pushed to 7th May and then to 21st May.
Gundam Hathaway full movie franchise opened in a record high of 214 theaters in Japan with screening done in 4D and Dolby Cinema. The film’s limited edition Blu-ray Disc has also been put on sale from June 11.

The first anime movie in the 3 series adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway has premiered on 11th June in Japan theaters. Netflix U.S has confirmed that the movie will exclusively stream on 1st July. The announcement of the Gundam franchise, the Hathaway film trilogy came during the live Geek Week.
Japanese premiere on Netflix has been confirmed for 1st July. But Gundam Hathaway full movie English dub has not been confirmed by Netflix.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway Part 1 Cast
Anime creator of the Gundam series Yoshiyuki Tomino had written the novel 30 years ago before getting adapted as a movie. The original novel was titled “Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway of the Flash”.
Gundam: Hathaway full movie is directed by Shukou Murase and scripted by Yasuyuki Mutou. The animation directors are Pablo Uchida, Naoyuki Onda, and Shigeki Kuhara. The music composer for the movie is from Attack on Titan fame Hiroyuki Sawano.

Sunrise, the animation company, has not officially revealed any release date of Mobile Suit Gundam second installment. But with so many delays happening, one can safely assume that production has been kicked off. It is speculated that Mobile Suit Gundam Part 2 may debut in Winter 2021 anime calendar.
