Winfuture’s Roland Quandt revealed in early February that Samsung was gearing up to launch an updated version of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and a refurbished version of the 2021 Galaxy Watch 4. Since then, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024 has indeed been launched in some markets. However, there hasn’t been much news about the Samsung SmartWatch until recently.

Recent rumors indicate that Samsung is not only working on the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch7 Classic but also on a more affordable option called the Galaxy Watch FE. This aligns with the earlier rumor suggesting the arrival of three new Samsung smartwatches instead of the expected two. It seems like Samsung has an interesting lineup of smartwatches planned for release.

Galaxy Watch4 making a comeback as Samsung Galaxy Watch FE

Recent reports from AndroidHeadlines have uncovered 3 model numbers for Galaxy Watch FE from an IMEI database, identified by model codes SM-R866F, SM-R866U, and SM-R866N. These numerals indicate global, US, and Korean market versions respectively. It is also speculated that the Galaxy Watch FE could be a reimagined version, akin to the Galaxy Watch4 (SM-R860F) since their model numbers match fairly.

[LEAKS] Budget Samsung Galaxy Watch FE will soon become a reality

The “FE” in Galaxy Watch FE stands for “Fan Edition,” a concept introduced by Samsung with the Galaxy S20FE in September 2020. The distinction was to offer more budget-friendly versions of its flagship devices. Subsequently, this trend was extended to other product categories, such as tablets and earphones, as seen with the Galaxy Buds FE.

Expected to provide a balance of good features and affordability, the Galaxy Watch FE is likely to share a design similar to recent Samsung smartwatches, blending in with newer products. While its design may not be considered groundbreaking, it is expected to remain contemporary.

Galaxy Watch4 launch date(speculated)

In a report published by The Elec. Samsung is potentially planning to launch the Galaxy Watch FE alongside the Galaxy S24 FE in summer 2024. The Galaxy S24 FE is expected to be part of Samsung’s “Fan Edition” lineup, which offers more budget-friendly versions of its flagship smartphones. If this plan materializes, both the Galaxy Watch FE and Galaxy S24 FE could be introduced together.

Furthermore, rumors are indicating that Samsung may hold an Unpacked event earlier than usual this year. This event could serve as the platform to unveil not only the Galaxy Watch FE and Galaxy S24 FE but also the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.

Galaxy Watch FE specs (speculated)

The Galaxy Watch FE is anticipated to be a more budget-friendly option from Samsung, similar to how the Apple Watch SE is positioned in Apple’s lineup. Galaxy Watch FE will indeed be a robust and capable smartwatch, with specifications that are similar to the well-regarded Galaxy Watch4.

The inclusion of a wide array of comprehensive sensor packages and the WearOS operating system, all powered by the Exynos W920 processor should make it a compelling choice for users looking for a feature-rich wearable device.

The Galaxy Watch FE should be well-equipped with a range of sensors for various health and fitness tracking purposes, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, ambient light sensor, compass, optical heart rate sensor (8 pd), SpO2 sensor for blood oxygen level, ECG sensor, and sensors for BIA biological impedance analysis.

Running on WearOS and powered by the Exynos W920 processor, with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage space, it should offer a smooth and responsive user experience. This strategy could make the Galaxy Watch FE a compelling choice for those looking to get into wearables without breaking the bank.

If Samsung offers the Galaxy Watch FE at a similar or lower price point than the Galaxy Watch 4, it could make it a very attractive option for those looking for a feature-rich smartwatch at a more affordable price. Galaxy Watch 4 is carrying a price tag of $150 or even lower at this time.

Rumors are suggesting that Samsung is considering a significant design change for its smartwatches, possibly shifting from the traditional circular case to a square one. This potential design revolution could debut with the Galaxy Watch7 later this year or be reserved for the Galaxy Watch8 in 2025.
