Sony Interactive Entertainment has been gradually expanding its reach to PC players by porting some of its popular PlayStation exclusives. The next game rumored to make the jump is The Last of Us Part 2, according to information from the Twitter account Silknigth. This account has a history of accurate predictions, having correctly revealed the PC port of Ghost of Tsushima.
Silknigth, a leaker known for providing insider information on PlayStation titles, has been particularly focused on leaks related to PC ports and remakes of PlayStation first-party games. In a recent post, Silknigth mentioned that Ghost of Tsushima for PC would be officially announced soon. This announcement aligns with their track record of accurate predictions, as they had previously correctly revealed the PC port of Ghost of Tsushima.
@Silknigth mentioned in response to another user that The Last of Us Part 2’s PC port is “very close,” although no specific release date has been provided. This news has sparked speculation that the game could be released in 2024, or at the very least, an official announcement could be on the horizon. While these details remain unconfirmed and should be treated as rumors, the track record of Silknigth and the similarity to past revelations give credence to the possibility of The Last of Us Part 2 coming to PC.
The leaker mentioned that they couldn’t provide a specific release timeframe but hinted that The Last of Us Part 2’s PC port is “very close” among other ports. This is in line with the pattern observed with The Last of Us Part 1, which received a PC port shortly after its initial release on PlayStation. Given this precedent, it’s reasonable to speculate that the sequel could also receive a PC port relatively soon.
Interestingly, when asked about other potential PlayStation ports in development, Silknigth did not provide any specific details beyond Horizon Forbidden West and Ghost of Tsushima. This suggests that either Silknigth’s information is limited to certain titles or that they are choosing not to disclose information about other projects at this time.
When will The Last of Us Part 2 remastered PC port release?
It’s all speculation and guesswork at this point, but based on the release pattern of The Last of Us Part 1 on PC, there’s a possibility that The Last of Us Part 2 could follow a similar timeline. The Last of Us Part 1 was released on PS5 on September 2, 2022, and came to PC on March 28, 2023, with an almost six-month gap between the two releases.
Considering this, and the fact that The Last of Us Part 2 is set to release as a remastered version for PS5 on January 14, 2024, Naughty Dog might want some extra time to ensure the potential PC version is in top shape before shipping it, to avoid any issues experienced with The Last of Us Part 1 on PC.
If this pattern holds, we could expect The Last of Us Part 2 to be released on PC sometime between March and the end of June 2024, in the second quarter (Q2) of the year. However, it’s important to note that this is all speculation and an official announcement from Naughty Dog or Sony Interactive Entertainment is awaited for confirmation.
