Google’s Android 14 promised a more refined user experience, but like previous iterations, it’s not without its issues. The latest problem involves the Pixel Camera Crash with the camera app turning black or crashing on Android. The first reports have come from Pixel devices.
The Pixel Camera app is essential for unlocking the full photographic potential of your Google Pixel phone. Unfortunately, after a recent Android 14 update, it has become unusable for some users.
Apart from the Pixel Camera crash or not working for some Pixel users, it’s worth noting that the ‘black camera viewfinder’ bug is also being reported after updating to Android 14.
About Google Pixel Camera Crash
Following the Android 14 update just a few hours ago, multiple reports have surfaced regarding issues with the Pixel Camera app on various Pixel phones. Affected users have reported that the app crashes immediately upon opening, displaying a ‘Something went wrong’ error.
Some have reported Pixel Camera Crash on opening the app with the screen turning blacking out on the front and rear camera and crashing after around 5 seconds.Â
Since Pixel Camera is not working, users are facing issues wherever Face ID is used to unlock an app. Typically users have reported for Snapchat. For some users, the Pixel camera app crash happened after they zoomed in to 20x.
The Pixel Camera Crash has been observed more who have updated using family link.
This bug does not appear to be specific to a particular model, as users with Pixel 7, Pixel 7a, Pixel 6, and Pixel 5 devices have all encountered similar problems. Unfortunately, most of the common troubleshooting steps, such as force-stopping the app, clearing app data, or uninstalling and reinstalling app updates, have not resolved the issue.
As a result, several users are currently unable to utilize one of the most important features of their Pixel phones.
