Issues post-Android 11 update refuse to die. Here is the latest one being reported by OnePlus users. The irritating bug being highlighted is related to Android Auto performance. The bug “Android Auto slow to connect after update to Android 11” has surfaced in OnePlus devices after users installed Android 11 with OxygenOS 11. It was first spotted on OnePlus Forums.
The OnePlus Android Auto loading times have abnormally increased in comparison to its past behavior. It all started with a complaint from a user who said that he updated his OnePlus 7T with Oxygen OS 11.0.0.2.HD65AA a night before. It is frustrating when your reflexes are not ready to accept that the device in the car will take 2 more minutes to get loaded which otherwise was a fraction of a second.
Check out his dilemma below
Previously, my OnePlus 7T would connect and load up Android Auto almost immediately when plugged into the display in my 2017 VW Golf via USB. I updated the phone to Oxygen OS 11.0.0.2.HD65AA last night, and today the same process takes what seems like more than a minute.
It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it means that I can’t set up my playlist and navigation before I start driving anymore. I just don’t have that kind of time, especially if my impatient wife is in the car.
So, now I have to start driving and then set up everything while I’m driving after the connection process finally completes. Therefore, this update has created a safety hazard for my family and I.
Please advise how to revert to the previous OS version or provide a patch ASAP!
Android 11 update appears to have messed up with the otherwise quick ‘plug and go’ system for Android Auto. It has now been pushed to more than 2 minutes of waiting. Some users have even reported that Android Auto gets disconnected from them during their commute. This is especially annoying when you are left without directions and are scrambling to connect the phone back, followed by a waiting period of another 2 minutes to get started.
The Android Auto delay issue is not restricted to the OnePlus 7 series. It is being reported by a few more OnePlus models including OnePlus 7, OnePlus 8, and OnePlus Nord. There are stray reports by OnePlus 9 Pro users as well.
The issue is not hardware-related. A few users have gone ahead and tried different cables and ensured the latest version of Android Auto (6.3.611324-release) is installed. However, the Android Auto delay bug refuses to budge. OnePlus device owners are convinced that the problem lies with the updated Android version. Since there was no such delay in Android Auto earlier, the issue appears more with the software, and OnePlus needs to fix it.
OnePlus Bug Hunters team has acknowledged the issue with a reply in the thread

Android Auto bug preventing phones from pairing
Apart from the delay, a few OnePlus 11 users are reporting the Android Auto bug of late. The app has stopped working or connecting by USB cable or Bluetooth. Users have tried to fox at their end by changing USB default to “Android Auto” and using the original cable, but it has not worked.
The good news is that the issue has been acknowledged and the issue forwarded to the concerned team.
In the meantime, we have some workarounds from the users too.
Share with us your experiences and stay tuned for Android Auto delay fix updates.
Android Auto has become unusable on my OnePlus 7pro thanks to the most recent update. There was no issue with the application prior to update. They need to resolve this ASAP
