Huawei has been pretty late in comparison to its fellow OEMs when it comes to rolling out the Android 11 update. It was on 10th September, the OEM had unveiled EMUI 11 and Magic UI 4.0 updates with the list of eligible devices to receive one. EMUI 11 update is based on Huawei’s HarmonyOS and has Android OS at its core.

The officially confirmed devices included Huawei Mate-series (Huawei Mate Xs to Huawei Mate 30 Pro series), Huawei P-series (Huawei P30 to Huawei P40 series), Huawei Nova-series (Huawei Nova 5 Pro, Huawei Nova 5T, to Huawei Nova 7 series), and Huawei MatePad Pro series.

EMUI 11 update has been much awaited one since the day it was teased. It promises revamped UI, new features, and flavor of IoT.

On March 1st, one of the popular models, HUAWEI Nova 5T got the EMUI 11 global stable update. The company had promised it in Q1, 2021. The firmware version EMUI 11.0.0.138 was installed with a package size of 1.94GB.

In a phased global rollout the countries that have received the HUAWEI Nova 5T EMUI 11 update include Europe, UK, Turkey, Chile, Croatia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Latin America, Romania, Japan, Egypt, Eastern Europe, and New Zealand.

People have started reporting bugs mostly around WiFi connectivity, battery drain, and navigation key disposition. Let us visit the exact nature of the issue and if there is any potential solution till the time company releases a hotfix.

After installing EMUI 11, some Huawei phone users and Bjørnar Svanes from Norway reported some bugs and issues with their respective models.

Bjørnar Svanes from Norway and few more users are reporting WiFi connectivity issues after Nova 5T EMUI 11 update. Users are reporting notifications while establishing a connection with local home WiFi pushing them out of network. The pop-up messages read “Rejected access to network” and WiFi gets disconnected. This was not observed when their devices were on EMUI 10.1.

Users are also facing the battery drain issue when in idle mode. The battery is draining faster after EMUI 11 update and getting heated up when in sleep mode. It is usually suggested to wait some time and monitor the SOT and the latest AI capabilities to learn from users’ habits and adapt consumption to the profile.

A user from Serbia reported the change in position of the back navigation key as shown in the screenshot. This is different from the earlier placement causing navigation issues.

As of now, there is no official confirmation of the issues cropping up. For the time being if you cannot bear with the issues opt to roll back to EMUI 10.1 via the Hisuite app on PC. You can flash the EMUI 11 update. It is always advisable to take a backup before the rollback.

It was in August 2019 that Huawei had launched the Nova 5T. The device was packaged with EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie. It got its first update EMUI 10 in 2020. Now it is the turn of the EMUI 11 update that has its UI based on Android 10 with access to the Huawei Mobile Services(HMS) instead of GMS.
