Among Gen-Z, Instagram has climbed the charts of popularity and is one of the world’s most used social media sites. Instagram has come a long to become the 7th most visited website on the internet. To keep its user base engaged and to add more, Instagram keeps on introducing features. Keeping the age of its user base in mind, the features range from Direct Messages to IGTV and Instagram reels.

One such popular feature is Stories introduced in 2017, inspired by Snapchat. The Story feature allows users to share pictures and videos having a limited shelf life, that is they disappear after 24 hours. Although, if someone wants to keep that on their profile, they may create a highlight of selected pictures and videos.

Sometimes a new update to the Instagram app or even an OS rollout to Android or iOS devices breaks some features. The latest one that has been troubling users is Instagram filters not showing or saying ‘This effect is not available in your location’.

Now we have another glitch that is troubling its frequent users. It is Instagram ‘Stories keep restarting from beginning’ issue. Let us deep dive into what the bug is and how we can fix it at our end until a permanent fix is rolled out.

Instagram ‘Stories keep restarting from beginning’ glitch

Instagram users are complaining that Stories continue to play from the start always. Those affected by the issue are annoyed and confused as to why this is happening. Some have attempted re-logging into their accounts, but this has had no impact. A number of users have stated that they are contemplating to uninstall the app due to the ‘Stories keep restarting from beginning’ glitch. Users are hoping that it is a bug and not a new feature.

Here are a few reports from Instagram users whose Stories keep restarting from the beginning:

People are reporting that Instagram stories are acting weird for the past few days. Whenever someone uploads a new story, the app is forcing users to rewatch older stories multiple times before coming to the new one. It is annoying especially when you have to watch it multiple times.

Seems like a new Instagram update has screwed up its Story feature. The hiccup in the Instagram update has hopefully got enough complaints to get it patched soon. Let’s find out whether Instagram has a fix to it!

Instagram’s ‘Stories keep restarting from beginning’ glitch fixed

On Wednesday, Instagram has released a fix for iOS users and rolled out a new version of the app. The new version is labelled 239.1. To prevent the ‘Stories keep restarting from beginning’ glitch, users should force update the app using App Store or Play Store, depending on the platform your device supports.

All one has to do is to log out and delete the app from a smartphone. Visit the iTunes store to Update to the latest version. Reinstall it and it is back to working normally. Users can also check the Settings of their phone to find out the Instagram software version. They will be notified of the Instagram version 239.1 if it has arrived and will update automatically. Else opt to download manually from the App store.

The 239.1 update note says, “The latest version contains bug fixes and performance improvements”

Summing It Up

The Instagram ‘Stories keep restarting from the beginning’ has annoyed the users globally and users are raging over this issue on other social media sites. Though a fix has been rolled out but users need to manually update to the latest version. They are still found to be reported on the internet.
