How Mobile Phones Advances Changed Video Gaming

The mobile phone was initially invented to make it easier to contact others when you are out and about. With so much changing over the last 20 years in technological terms, it seems that mobile phones and technology, in particular, have led to some form of revolution, changing the lives of thousands of people in the process.

First a phone, now a games console

One key place where you can see the dramatic change is in the gaming industry. Whereas the initial games available on a mobile phone were the likes of Snake and Minesweeper, now it is like having a portable games console in your pocket. Phones are so powerful nowadays that it isn’t unheard of to see console emulators on a mobile phone as people try to make the most of the processing power available.

It is a bit scary when you think about it as 20 years ago, the only phone that people seemed to have was a Nokia 3310, mainly because it was durable and reasonably cheap to pick up. Now people have the latest gadget from the likes of Samsung and Apple, and they almost serve as miniature bespoke consoles.

They have become secondary gaming devices

This hasn’t gone unnoticed by those within the gaming industry either, as mobile games are becoming considerably more popular as various companies look to capitalize on a gap in the market. Mobile games are cheaper to make so can be churned out much faster, and they are designed to catch the attention of the casual gamer and give them a hook to get them to stay.

This could be empire-building with Clash of Clans or even recreating your childhood with Pokemon Go, among other games. There is a market for it there, and thanks to all the technological advances, games companies are likely to try and capitalize on it and battle for supremacy.

Casinos and slots get involved too

Online casinos and slots also have a role to play in mobile gaming as they provide the opportunity for newer gamers and casino lovers alike to enjoy their favorite games in a new way. The joys of the online casinos aren’t streamlined, so you are still getting the same game as everyone else; it is just on your phone and easier to access.

It is also available whenever you want it, which is so much more convenient for a casual gamer. Sites like jackpot city make it possible for a new gamer to slot in as if they were a seasoned pro, although there is still some scope to learn the rules of certain games as you go.

With all of this in mind, it is little surprise that people end up spending so much time on their phones as video games can be a great way to unwind and when you have a console in your pocket at all times, why wouldn’t you use it? It might not have been the initial purpose of a phone, but you can use them for whatever you want with so many advances.
