Let the countdown begin to “Hi, Speed” Apple Event!
Days of speculations after the “Time Flies” event was laid to rest yesterday. Apple has formally announced the date of the unveiling of its much-awaited iPhone 12 series. The next online “Hi, Speed” event will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 10:00 a.m.PDT from Apple Park.
It will be a Digital-Only iPhone-Centric Event. The “Hi, Speed” presentation will be over a video recorded from Apple Park in Cupertino (California). It will be similar to what had been attempted with Apple Watch Series 6, the iPad, and the iPad Air.
Due to COVID-19, the traditional invites have been replaced by virtual online keynotes. In the “Hi, Speed” event, Apple is likely to launch all of its 2020 5G iPhones. All the models will take the shape of more squarish. As per the leaks, they will have OLED screens ranging from 5.4 to 6.7 inches and significantly advanced optic feasibility.
It has been after several years that Apple has launched 5.4-inch iPhone. Rumors suggest it be named “iPhone 12 mini.” The other 3 models are supposedly iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, in 6.1 and 6.7-inch size options respectively. iPhone 12 Pro Max will turn out to be the largest in terms of display size that Apple has launched until now.
Jon Prosser, a reputed tipster has confirmed that Apple’s first shipment of final iPhone 12 units is going out to distributors on October 5th. The shipment includes:
iPhone 12 mini 5.4 (Definitely the final marketing name) -64/128/256
iPhone 12 6.1 -64/128/256
Do keep in mind that the launch of MacBook and other iMacs will likely be pushed to November. October event will be dedicated to the iPhone 12 launch.
Now coming back to Apple’s invite to the journalists covering the event. Every element of the invite including the colors chosen is a hint for nerds and whizkids alike. It is interesting as it reads “Hi, Speed”. The word Speed is synonymous with the overpowering A14 Bionic processor engraved in 5 nm. All the models of the iPhone 12 series both with and without 5G will be equipped with the new SoC.
Taking a cue from the latest iPad Pro, the invitation keynote encircled might represent the future LiDar sensor (light/laser detection and ranging). Although circles are not symmetrical, they give multiple hints. It is for the die-hard fan to decode their meanings. They might be considered to be photosensors or even AirTags as deduced by Jon Prosser.
It is left to wild imagination now with people assuming that the circle with the logo represents AirTags. The outermost, bigger circle can be a HomePod mini. Inner concentric circles can represent Find My tracking with AirTags or AirPods Studio/HomePod mini surround sound. Another hidden Apple product in the logo of the event can be the addition of a HomePod mini in the catalog.
The Blue-purple and Orange signify the new iPhone “2020 colors”. The color dark blue “Navy” appears to take the place of green inaugurated last year on the iPhone 11 Pro / 11 Pro Max. Take the blue-purple from the Apple Watch Series 6 and the iPad Air.
