Today Netflix is scheduled to release the DOTA: Dragon’s Blood eight-part series. The streaming giant brought back nostalgic memories of 2006 when there was Dota 2’s heyday in popular music. In a video promo released, Basshunter is back with his most famous song on DOTA.

Basshunter can be sitting in Ventrilo and playing DOTA at the launch of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood as if he never went away. Swedish DJ Basshunter aka Jonas Erik Altberg makes a comeback after 15 long years, revving up the nostalgia.

It was in the year 2006 when Swede Basshunter had released “Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA”. It catapulted him to fame due to its lyrics and music video. It was more of a parody recounting his exploits on the video game DotA. The tune was from the song Daddy DJ and was the 2nd single from his first album LOL.

The DOTA anthem song was felt practically by every player. One can see the disbelief in the eyes of Basshunter’s mother when she opens the door and finds his friends sitting in front of computers playing DOTA. The famous song gets playing as soon as she reprimands them for playing too much of DOTA.

The lyrics “Vi sitter I Ventrilo och spelar DotA” are in Swedish which means “We sit in Ventrilo and play DOTA.” In 2006 DOTA was a mod in the game Warcraft III and Ventrilo was widely used.

Netflix has dropped the promo video of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood with Basshunter at the right time. Fast forward to 2021, he’s back again. The sing is not a remixed version and neither a new one. Basshunter can still be seen in similar settings as his first video with his cult title playing in the background. The promo seamlessly mixes the shots devised by Studio Mir with shots of the DJ singer sitting in front of PC.
