Chal Mera Putt 2 is one of those movies that were affected severely due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. It was released on 13th March 2020, just a few days before the lockdown was imposed in India. Chal Mera Putt is a Punjabi comedy movie with a run time of 2 hours 10 minutes. Its plot revolves around the struggle of the youth who tend to go and work in other countries. The film was first going to re-release in Dubai, and then we came to know that it was coming to Amazon Prime Video. Since Part 1 of Chal Mera Putt is available on Prime Video, it was quite possible that Part 2 (Chal Mera Putt 2) will also premiere there only. But now, we have finally received the official news.
Simi Chahal, the lead actress in Chal Mera Putt 2, had last posted on Instagram that the movie is going to re-release in theatres after the quarantine ends. However, the movie has got a theatrical release in Punjab state only. Check out the love ballad titled ‘Sadiyan Ton’ from the movie, sung by Amrinder Gill. It has started raking up numbers at the box office.
The movie has been released worldwide in Punjabi, English, and Urdu. On its opening today (27th August), it has received a great response in East Punjab circuit and other areas with a large Punjabi-speaking population. It has opened in 130 cinemas in East Punjab. It is expected that the movie will break the record of the first-day earnings set by Puaada. It was the first Punjabi film to open in cinemas after the lockdown, on 12th August.
The film’s director is Janjot Singh and has retained most of the cast of the prequel. Lead roles have been played by Amrinder Gill, Garry Sandhu, and Simi Chahal. They have been supported by Iftikhar Thakur, Nasir Chinyoti, Akram Udas, Zafri Khan, Hardeep Gill, Gurshabad, Ruby Anum, and Nirmal Rishi.
Chal Mera Putt is making news because producer Munish Sahani has stepped beyond the Film fraternity imposed ban on Pakistani artists and actors in India. He has cast 5 Pakistani actors namely Zafri Khan, Iftikhar Thakur, Nasir Chinyoti, Rubi Anam, and Akram Udas. The makers do not have any plans to release the movie in Pakistan.
While defending his decision to cast Pakistani actors Sahani said
“There is no particular reason to cast Pakistani actors. We have shot the film in the United Kingdom and the project required them. If I want to give international exposure to the film, I have to consider territories where the reach of Indian actors is limited.”
