Twitch is to ban unlicensed game content

Rarely a week in the Twitch ecosystem goes by without some more or less important controversy. This time it’s about gambling and British streamer itsSliker, who was accused of swindling his subscribers out of about $300,000 that he spent on gambling sites.

Twitch reports, “On Oct. 18, we will update the policy to ban streaming gaming sites that include slot machines, roulette or craps that are not licensed in the United States or other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection.”

CoinPlay.com is a reliable platform based on cutting-edge technology to ensure the safety and comfort of its users. A fraud-free platform, CoinPlay is internationally licensed and offers an incredible online betting experience with cryptocurrency sports, including cyber sports and an online bitcoin casino offering over 500 different slots as well as classic games such as poker, blackjack, baccarat and roulette.

What Happened

itsSliker is a popular streamer on Twitch. His profile has half a million subscribers, and a few days ago he was accused of swindling his viewers out of $300,000 they spent playing CS:GO. According to MGG, the streamer told his Discord subscribers and followers that he needed “financial support to pay for various loans because his credit card was allegedly blocked and he could not pay them.” The streamer later apologized and admitted his actions.

Due to this situation and the inaction of Twitch, many participants such as Pokimane, Mizkif and Devin Nash decided to organize a boycott on Twitch during Christmas week (one of the key weeks of any advertising service) as a protest.

The rest of the streamers offered to refund users the money that Sliker lured away, and also said that Twitch should finally start doing something about it.

Two days after the controversy began, Twitch released a statement saying that they intend to prohibit “streaming betting pages involving slots, roulette or craps games that are not licensed in the United States or other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection.” Among the sites mentioned are Stake.com, Rollbit.com, Duelbits.com and Roobet.com, with more expected to be added over time.

What Does It Mean?

This means that the Twitch streaming platform does not impose restrictions on all gambling or streaming. The exceptions are sports betting, fantasy sports, and poker games. But in order to be allowed to stream slot machines, roulette or craps, the platform must be licensed in the U.S. or other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection.

It’s all Made for Consumer Protection

According to the latest update, Twitch has assured that everything it has done so far has been to ensure consumer protection. The platform’s statement continues:

“While we prohibit sharing links or referral codes to all sites containing slots, roulette or craps, we have seen some people circumvent these rules and expose our community to potential harm.”

Twitch representatives explained that starting in October, the platform will take a stricter approach due to loopholes that some streamers have found in the rules. According to some, this move is long overdue, as it will have a positive impact on the audience, which will not be directed at offshore gambling sites.

Curiously, this event contradicts a prediction made by xQc earlier this year, namely: “Twitch will never ban gaming content.”

While technically true, Twitch has gone up against arguably the biggest content sponsors on the platform. Now it remains to be seen whether streamers who have vowed to give up gambling will continue to stick with it by switching to other sites and brands that are considered legal.

CoinPlay

Based on numerous user requests, the CoinPlay crypto gambling platform uses software developed by leading manufacturers including Microgaming, VIVO Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Spinomenal, and many others.

The range of gambling games on the Coinplay platform includes slots, table games, lottery, bingo, live casino, and all from the comfort of your own home!

Slots fans will discover a world of more than 500 cool games. And what about online casinos? CoinPlay is the latest platform with the highest quality selection of gambling games, where you’ll find high-quality games for every taste. The platform offers the best bets with incredibly profitable bonuses! They include an extensive list of roulette, blackjack, casino hold’em, and baccarat options, giving players quite a wide selection.

If you’re looking for a wide selection of live games, CoinPlay Casino has recently added live games to its roster.

CoinPlay’s payment system is just as happy with its speed and functionality. CoinPlay can offer its users a number of payment options in fiat currencies and also includes a cryptocurrency mode that has a large list of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, Litecoin, TRON, Solana, etc.

Conclusion

Twitch will be providing details about the live betting ban in the coming weeks, specifically about its new policy before it happens. The community took the news well, no matter what, albeit by a clear 50/50 margin.

Twitch, which is now owned by Amazon, had its say, and while it did not completely ban betting on the streaming platform, some action was still taken.

Therefore, we strongly recommend using only licensed platforms, such as CoinPlay, for a comfortable and safe experience.
