UPDATE: Netflix has added the feature to PIN Lock Profiles now

Netflix is rolling out a much-demanded feature that will help improve your experience if you share your account with other people. Currently, Netflix offers 3 plans: Basic, Standard and Premium.

The basic plan lets you watch Netflix on one screen at a time. Still, you can make a total of 5 profiles (including the default Kids profile) and share the account with your friends. The most expensive Premium plan allows 4 people to watch simultaneously with 5 total profiles.

The issue with Netflix is that currently, any user can switch freely between profiles without any security check. If you have Kids profile opened up on your iPad or TV, your kids can also switch to other profiles without any password. This can lead to them watching some age-inappropriate content. Although there is Parental controls feature, but that is baked deep into account settings.

Even if you don’t have kids, someone else could open up your profile if you are sharing your account and see what type of movies and TV shows you are watching. You might not want your parents to see what you are watching and vice versa. Someone who binge-watch TV shows, wouldn’t want anyone else to open his profile and disturb his timeline on Netflix.

This problem will soon be fixed by netflix password protect profile feature. Netflix will allow users to set a four-digit PIN when they create a new profile. You will be asked for this PIN every time you login into your account or try to switch between profiles. Owner of the profile can change the PIN anytime they want. They can also choose to disable the PIN if they don’t want the added security.

The feature is currently in development stages and will soon roll out to users. PhonesWiki is the first one to break this news from a reliable source and will keep you posted about future development on this.
