Software updates are essential to keep your phones smooth and to make your experience better. With every update, you get some new features for your device, like better RAM management, visual changes, and more. If you own an Honor device, then you must be aware of the fact that they run on EMUI. EMUI is Honor’s custom-built UI for their devices. If you have Honor Play or know someone who owns it, this article is for you.
Honor Play was launched in 2018, with 4 GB RAM, and HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor. With a decent camera setup of 16MP camera in front as well as back, plus a 2 MP depth-sensing bokeh camera, this device launched at ₹19,999. This price made the device in the middle ranged device category. Back in 2018, Huawei Honor was starting to expand its feet in the Indian market, so Honor Play was one of their early devices.
Honor Play ran on EMUI 8.2 out of the box. Considering that devices with Kirin 980 started to receive EMUI 10 update, which comes with Android 10, Play users began to wonder if they will get it too. Honor responded to it and said that Honor Play would not receive EMUI 10 Update, but the company will continue to roll out stability and bug fixing updates. Honor stated that they would continue to keep the device up to date optimum performance, but Android 10 will not be rolled out.
This is definitely saddening news for Honor Play users. What are your views on this, do let us know in the comments section. Share this news with someone who owns Honor Play. For more such news and updates, stay tuned to phoneswiki.com.
Sad to hear that Honor Play won’t be getting the EMUI 10 update. I was really looking forward to the new features and improvements. It’s disappointing that Huawei can’t provide the same level of support for all its devices, especially those that were launched just a few years ago.
