Video games have been around for decades, and not only have they changed over the years thanks to advancements in technology, so has the way we play games. Gone are the days when you have to sit down at a PC or with your games console, we can now game on the go thanks to mobile gaming.
In fact, mobile gaming has come so far that it’s no longer a case of just playing titles like Snake on your old Nokia 3310, you get fully fledged games from AAA studios. And today we’re going to look at the best mobile games of 2022 for residents of Michigan to play on their smartphones.
So, whether you’re a casual gamer heading down West Main Street in Gaylord on the bus for work, or you’re a serious gamer who needs to get their daily challenges done on a trip out to Houghton Lake, we’ll have a little something for everyone on this list.
Mighty Party
Mighty Party is a great game that is available on both Android and iOS devices in which you build a team of fighters by collecting cards, then battle them against other players to climb the rankings. Each fighter in your team has different abilities and effects, making it a very tactical and strategic game to play. You can pay to get ahead in this game by purchasing in-game currency, but it is also available to earn as well so it’s not necessary. Though it will take you longer to get to the top.
PUBG
Yes, you read that right, PUBG (a.k.a. PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS) can be downloaded right to your mobile. The game that kicked things off in the Battle Royale scene can now be played on your smartphone, and there is even a competitive PUBG Mobile esports scene. It’s incredibly good fun going around taking out your opponents to become the last one standing and claiming that chicken dinner.
Although we must admit, we find this one a little easier to play with a mobile controller rather than the touch controls.
Monument Valley
Another very different title from the two already mentioned, Monument Valley is an indie puzzle game that is as fun to play as it is stunningly beautiful. You will face numerous challenges over multiple levels that will see the world around you shifting, and you have to work out how to get around the puzzles to make it to the next one. You’ll never want it to end, but sadly it will when you complete it.
Fortunately though, there is a sequel you can play once you are finished.
myVegas Slots
Now, we discovered this game before we went on a trip to Vegas after a friend recommended it. It’s essentially a little pretend casino with animated graphics that allows you to play various slots with friends, except you don’t use real money. It’s all free-play with new funds added to your account every day and you can redeem the coins you earn for real-life rewards. From free cocktails at numerous bars to a free room at the Bellagio and even tickets to a fight night event.
So if you’re looking to take a break from Michigan, it’s a great way of helping cut the costs and making the most of a trip if Vegas is your destination of choice.
Lightning Roulette
If a play casino isn’t for you, don’t worry we have you covered. Lightning Roulette is a game available at a number of casino sites you can download to your phone. Although check out the reviews of casinos before you choose one as you don’t want to end up playing at somewhere that will rip you off. Michigan’s BetMGM casino app has a good rating in the app store for example, and that’s what you should be looking for.
But back to the game itself, it’s a fresh take on the classic table game of roulette where lightning strikes the table. It will charge up to five numbers with big multipliers of up to 500x your stake wagered. If that number comes in on the wheel and you have it covered, well, that’s one big payday.
Rocket League Sideswipe
Out of the casinos and into the arena with Psyonix’s mobile version of the smash hit Rocket League. Sideswipe follows a similar premise, a game similar to soccer where your aim is to get the ball in the back of the other player’s net. However, rather than playing as people, you play as rocket-propelled cars.
This isn’t a full version of the game like with PUBG we mentioned before, the full version is much more chaotic. However, this small 1 vs 1 game is great to pass the time in small bursts, and because you’re always playing against different players online, it helps to pass the time. Because of this though, unlike PUBG it doesn’t have a competitive scene like the main game does with events such as the RLCS World Championships.
Pokémon GO
This game was a huge hit when it was first released, with people all over Michigan playing it and bumping into streetlights and other objects as they were paying more attention to their phones than what was around them. And despite a fall in player numbers, Pokémon GO is still as popular as ever and there are now more stadiums to battle at and places of interest to get bonuses from as well as new Pokémon to discover at places such as along the shores of Lake Michigan in Frankfort or in the woodlands of Ortonville.
