Since TikTok and 58 more Chinese apps were banned in June 2020 by the Indian Government, there were speculations of PUBG Mobile to be on the next hit list. It turned out to be true yesterday. It was on the next installment of “digital strike” with 117 more Chinese apps announced by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The logical reason behind the ban is the game’s association with Tencent Games. It is a subsidiary of Tencent Holdings, one of the topmost Chinese multinational companies. The disappointment amongst its fans is evident as PUBG had become a social platform for millions to connect and play. For streamers, it also served as a medium of livelihood.

However, in spite of the ban, there is scope left to continue playing the country’s favorite battle royale game. The ban is applicable only on the mobile version of PUBG including the Lite. It doesn’t apply to PUBG on consoles and PCs. Though the games appear to be the same, however, publisher’s country origin differentiates them.

Tencent Games are publishers of PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite apps. Whereas, the PC and console version is owned by Bluehole, a gaming studio based out of South Korea. This is the primary reason behind PUBG PC not falling on the radar. The other is the location of PC servers. They are operated by PUBG Corp, an entity based out of South Korea.

The ban orders from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, clearly states- banned apps “are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”.

In the absence of Mobile gameplay, PUBG addicts can continue to play on PC and consoles. Though it will not be an ideal experience, however, the convenience of mobiles can be bargained. PC and Consoles can be enjoyed with impressive graphics and promising immersive gameplay.

The only downside of playing the game on PC was the requirement of a gaming PC. The other one where PUBG Mobile had an upper hand was it was free to play. With the PC and Console versions, one has to pay.

There are always few bargain worthy deals available on Flipkart during the Flipstart Days Sale which one can avail. If you cannot spare money, you can also opt for the PUBG PC lite version, or take the help of Tencent Gaming Buddy Emulator.

If you are not interested in setting up the game on PC and want to continue playing games on mobile, you can check out the best alternatives to Battle Royale PUBG.
