The upcoming Sony Xperia 1 VI is rumored to be identified by the model number “XQ-ESxx.” While initial leaks suggested significant improvements in appearance and camera specifications, recent Sony Xperia 1 VI price leaks indicate a focus on enhancing communication features, with fewer changes in important specs like display and optics.

Leaked Sony Xperia 1 VI price details on Weibo suggest a price of HK$9,699 (approximately 183,000 yen) for the Hong Kong market. The leaked image of the HTML code snippet is from Sony’s website, however source is unknown.

This aligns with the pricing of the previous Xperia 1 V in Hong Kong, which was HK$9,699 for the 256GB model and HK$10,499 for the 512GB model. In other words, the price of the Xperia 1 VI may not change in comparison to its predecessor.

Xperia 1 VI might not bring significant upgrades in appearance or camera specifications compared to its predecessor. The leaked price for the Hong Kong version suggests it could be similar to the Xperia 1 V in terms of pricing. However, it might not be indicative of the pricing in other regions. It will be interesting to see how Sony positions this model in the market, especially considering the competitive landscape of flagship smartphones.

An earlier rumor indicated a significant rear camera upgrade for the Xperia 1 VI, with all sensors possibly being upgraded to a 48MP Exmor-T sensor. However, if this rumor holds, it would likely raise production costs, potentially impacting the device’s pricing. Therefore, the recently leaked pricing information casts doubt on the validity of the rumored camera upgrade.

In the meantime, Sony has clarified that it is not withdrawing its mobile business from China. However, it appears that the upcoming Xperia 2024 models will not find a market in China at least for the year 2024. The decision seems to be related to significant changes in this year’s Xperia specifications, which may require adjustments for the Chinese market that cannot be implemented in time for the new Xperia 2024 release.
