Today, Manu Kumar Jain, the Global VP of Xiaomi, posted a tweet stating that the Mi10 won’t be the only device that the company is going to reveal on 8th of May. There will be another amazing IoT device that would make an appearance alongside the latest flagship phone from Xiaomi.
He then went on to mention how the company introduced affordable smart TVs in India with the arrival of Mi TV, and now it is time to turn all the normal TVs into smart TVs as well.
He also posted a video that talked about a device that will turn any TV into a smart TV. It seems that the company is planning to introduce the Mi Box in India on 8th of May.
For those of you who don’t know, Mi Box is an HD media streaming player that comes with Google Assistant and the capabilities of Chromecast. The global version of the product runs Android 8.1, features voice search, and provides streaming services such as Netflix and Prime Video which are otherwise not accessible on regular TV.
In addition to streaming content from the web, you also get an option to stream content from your phone or laptop or any other smart device onto your TV, wirelessly. The multi-function remote that comes with the Mi Box allows you to control not only the TV but also a plethora of smart devices from Xiaomi. In terms of video and audio, the Mi Box is capable of playing 4K HDR content with Dolby audio without breaking a sweat.
