“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” Trailer To Debut During Monday Night Football

Finally, Star Wars fans have a date announcement for the final trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. Disney and Lucasfilm affirmed that the trailer will debut Monday night (October 21) in the US. You can catch the action live during Monday Night Football on the ESPN network. Post the announcement, Fandango, in a press release confirmed the ticket details.

A five seconds long video clip features the new-gen characters of Star Wars – Rey, Chewie, Finn and Poe. There are few returning cast members as well – Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver. The hype around The Rise of Skywalker is more because it is the concluding entry in the current Star Wars trilogy.

“It’s the end of an era, and fans cannot wait to see the epic conclusion to the Skywalker saga that began more than four decades ago,” Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis said in a statement. “‘The Rise of Skywalker’ is truly among the biggest and most anticipated films ever, and we are beyond excited to see how this momentous chapter in ‘Star Wars’ storytelling nears its end.”

JJ Abrams, who directed 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has returned to director’s chair to give a befitting end to the trilogy.

“This is about bringing this thing to a close in a way that is emotional and meaningful and also satisfying in terms of actually answering [as many] questions as possible,” Abrams tells EW. “So if years from now, someone’s watching these movies, all nine of them, they’re watching a story that is as cohesive as possible.”

The trailer launch will coincide with the birthday of Star Wars star Carrie Fisher. If she would have been alive, it would have been her 63rd birthday. Makers as a mark of tribute have kept her character, Princess Leia, alive via unused and unseen footage.

Not so crazy football fans will also tune in to catch the last trailer of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Once the trailer goes on air, Fandango will put up the tickets for sale from online outlets. You can hop online to be amongst the first to nab seats and catch the show.

The football match on Monday is kind of Empire-Rebels matchup. It will take place between 6-0 New England Patriots and the 1-4 New York Jets. Kickoff is scheduled at 8:15 pm ET/5:15 pm PT. 90 minutes down the game, at halftime, the trailer is expected to go on air.

The movie will explore the angle of “complicated relationship” between Daisy Ridley’s “Rey” and Adam Driver’s “Kylo Ren”. At the heart of the film lies the dynamics of their association which will fuel the tension between them. Star Wars’ fans are hoping that questions around Rey’s parentage, Kylo Ren’s humanity, and the future of a free galaxy will be answered.

“Some of the most interesting scenes in The Last Jedi are the conversations between Rey and Ren, [and] we’ve tried to pick up that complicated relationship that really has been present ever since the interrogation in [The Force Awakens]” confirmed to Empire Magazine by film’s co-screenwriter Chris Terrio.

The trailer of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker marks the last major teaser before it opens on December 20 worldwide. Many are hoping that Skywalker presales will beat the records set by Endgame.
