Reliance Jio offers 30 minutes free talk time on new recharges

Reliance Jio

Recent outrage with #BoycottJio trending on social media has made Reliance Jio Infocomm to announce free talk time offer to pacify its unhappy customers. Many of the existing Jio customers even threatened to port their numbers to the competition, as they were not willing to pay any extra bucks for calls made to other networks in the country.

Earlier last week on 9th October 2019, Reliance Jio made an official announcement of charging 6 paise per minute to all calls made to non-Jio mobile numbers, effective to all recharges made post 10th October. In their official statement, they cited TRAI’s IUC charges being the main reason for imposing the new charges to its huge subscriber base, which however didn’t go well with the customers, who took it to various social media platforms to express their disagreement.

In order to ease its agitated customers a bit Reliance Jio has now come up with a new offer, wherein it is offering them with 30 minutes of free IUC talk time. This particular offer of 30 minutes free talk time is being circulated via SMS to all of the subscribers who are recharging their Jio connections after October 10, when the new rule was put in place. Customers recharging their phones for the first time will get a free talk time of 30 minutes as a one-time offer. However, the free 30 minutes will be valid for the first seven days from the date of recharge.

As soon as memes started to make rounds on social media, Airtel and Vodafone swung into action to lure Jio’s disgruntled customers. Users weren’t happy with the fact that Jio promised free lifetime voice calls during its launch three years back. They feel deprived. However, with the free talk time offer of 30 minutes, #iloveJio was found to be trending.
