Xiaomi’s budget Redmi Note series has been a top-rated smartphone offering in India. Xiaomi claims to have sold over 5 million units in the country since its launch. The Note 7 series made its debut in India in February, so the sales figures given by Xiaomi seems pretty impressive. Now the company has confirmed that it is already working on launching the Redmi Note 8.
Redmi’s General Manager Lu Weibing confirmed the existence of the forthcoming Redmi Note 8. It’s the first announcement coming from Xiaomi regarding Redmi Note 8 series. The Redmi Note 8 series is foreseen to be the affordable successors of the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. Mi today also announced a new colour variant for Redmi Note 7 series called the Astro White. Weibing also confirmed that the devices would be a lot more robust than the present Redmi Note 7 series.
The device is rumoured to be powered by the recently launched MediaTek Helios G90T. MediaTek Helios G90T processor is designed with gaming at its core. The processor comes with numerous features such as HyperEngine Technology which claims to boost the performance of the device. Xiaomi India also confirmed that it would be soon launching a device featuring the MediaTek Helios G90T.
Other rumours also include the likelihood of a 64-megapixel sensor on the rear camera. The company recently showcased a prototype device featuring Samsung’s GW1 64-megapixel sensor so it won’t be a surprise if the same sensor is used in the Redmi Note 8.
