Redmi Note 5 Pro is one of the older phone models that Xiaomi gave separate attention to receive the stable version of the MIUI 11 update at the end of October. Surprisingly, Redmi Note 5 Pro was not included in the first round of MIUI 11 Global Stable Beta Testing program that was initiated by Xiaomi on October 18. Nevertheless, some Redmi Note 5 Pro users received the MIUI 11 update when only beta testers of MIUI 11 under the program were entitled to receive the stable version of the update.
Redmi Note 5 Pro was initially included in the second phase of the MIUI 11 rollout program. On October 31, Xiaomi announced the second round of MIUI 11 Global Stable Beta Testing program in the Mi Community for Indian users that included Redmi Note 5 Pro and other devices from the upcoming phases except a few such as Redmi 5, Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite, and Redmi 4.
The 622MB-sized MIUI 11 update for Redmi Note 5 Pro with version number MIUI v11.02.0 PEIMIXM brought the Android October Security Patch for the device along with fixing a few issues such as incorrect display of Wi-Fi page and hide of some of the battery saver options.
Most importantly, the MIUI 11 update received by the Redmi Note 5 Pro users was based on Android 9 Pie instead of Android 10. This leads to the guesswork that the latest beta testing program aimed at the device could be related to an Android 10-based update of MIUI 11.
Although the stable MIUI 11 update has not been rolled out to all the Redmi Note 5 Pro devices, users can still check for the update by navigating to Settings > About phone > System update. The update will rewards users with a host of new features such as continuous swipe for opening additional menu as well as creating a create home screen short cut for Game Turbo. These apart, it also enables automatically turn off auto-brightness, reading mode, and screenshot gestures.
