Xiaomi, the largest company in the Indian smartphone market, has introduced a new phone in the budget Redmi series. Redmi fanboys, who had been waiting for the Redmi 8 for a while now have a reason to rejoice, for the phone will be going on sale on Flipkart and Mi.com on October 12 at 12:01 PM IST.
The latest Redmi phone from the Chinese manufacturer has made some significant changes in terms of hardware specifications. The Snapdragon 439 Octa processor in Redmi 8 seems like a downgrade from the Snapdragon 632 in Redmi 7.
The Chinese giant decided to remove the standard Micro USB in favour of the widely popular USB Type-C. The battery has been bumped up to 5000mAh with support for 18W chargers. Coming to the photography department, the rear camera is powered by a Sony IMX 363 sensor while the selfie camera is maxed out at 8MP backed by AI image enhancements. You will be able to buy Redmi 8 for just ₹7,999 for 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant.
Interestingly, the new version comes with an IR Blaster and a 6.22-inch HD display. The front of the device has a tiny dot notch which houses the front camera and is barely noticeable. Also, Xiaomi touts that the phone will be Splash proof and protected by P2i.
