Madhav Sheth, the CEO of realme, came with an announcement a few hours back that would surely excite realme users. The announcement is related to the just-launched realme X2 Pro and realme XT, launched in early-September this year. Mr. Madhav Sheth tweeted that both the devices will be updated with the beta version of the new customized skin, ColorOS 7, and he will update the timeline on the progress of the new UI coming Monday.
realme’s former parent company, OPPO, has launched ColorOS 7 on November 20 and the new OS is due for release in India on November 26 in Delhi. ColorOS 7 has brought a lot of new features such as colour customisation options for icons, new wallpapers, new sounds effect, a new “Focus mode” for a better gaming experience, and an enhanced dark mode. The new OS is also reported to be smoother and faster compared with the previous iteration due to its improved memory optimisation.
Mr. Madhav Sheth’s recent tweet is a reconfirmation of his previous tweet made over a month ago. At that time, the CEO also said that realme smartphones will directly get the update to Android 10-based ColorOS 7, giving users a near-stock Android experience.
realme X2 Pro was launched a couple of days back with aggressive pricing in an effort to beat its competitor model, OnePlus 7T. The smartphone is priced at ₹29,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant and ₹33,999 for the 12GB+256GB variant. realme X2 Pro was launched with Android 9 Pie out of the box that is based on ColorOS 6.1.
The other phone, realme XT was launched in India on September 13 and went into sale from September 16. It is the company’s first 64-megapixel smartphone in India and is currently running on ColorOS 6.0.1. The phone features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a waterdrop style notch and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 712 SoC.
