realme X2 Pro Launches with Aggressive Price Challenging OnePlus 7T

Chinese OEM realme launched its first high-end flagship smartphone realme X2 Pro today in India with pricing that could pose a serious challenge to the recently launched OnePlus 7T in the premium category. The smartphone is priced at ₹29,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant and ₹33,999 for the 12GB+256GB variant. The pricing is pretty aggressive compared to OnePlus 7T which costs ₹37,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant and ₹39,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant.

The most phenomenal thing about the realme X2 Pro pricing is that it is offering a 12GB model at a much lower price than OnePlus, which is offering the same in OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition at a steeper price of ₹58,999.

realme not only tries to win the premium category market over OnePlus 7T from the pricing front but from the specs as well. realme X2 Pro has a lot of similarities with regard to OnePlus 7T such as 90Hz bezel-less display, Snapdragon 855 plus processor, ~6.5 inches screen size, 16MP selfie camera, and 4000mAh of battery power.

However, realme X2 Pro aims to beat OnePlus 7T in other aspects by sporting a quad-camera setup (64MP+13MP+8MP+2MP) compared with a triple camera setup (48MP+12MP+16MP) in OnePlus 7T, providing 50W SuperVOOC charging compared with 30W Warp Charge for OnePlus 7T, and offering a 12GB RAM model in the same price range.

From the camera perspective, realme X2 Pro fares better than OnePlus 7T as it offers a 20x hybrid zoom that combines optical zoom, digital zoom, and software support to provide the best zooming capability possible. However, OnePlus 7T offers a telephoto camera with a 2x optical zoom. This looks definitely good on paper but we do not yet know the actual distinction if we take both the phones for zoom testing.

As far as software is concerned, realme X2 Pro was launched with Android 9 Pie out of the box that is based on ColorOS 6.1 while OnePlus 7T is available in the market with Android 10 out of the box and it has received the OxygenOS to 10.0.6 update recently.

OxygenOS is undoubtedly one of the smoothest OS available in the market based on hands-on experience. However, realme’s former parent OPPO has recently confirmed the launch of the Android 10-based ColorOS 7 at an event in China on November 20 and in Delhi, India on November 26. Once, ColorOS 7 starts rolling out to realme X2 Pro, OnePlus 7T could find it even harder to compete with realme X2 Pro.
