True to its tagline, “Everything you need. Nothing you don’t,” POCO India sprang a surprise with the price range of much-hyped Poco X2. The affordable budget segment may not meet the expectations of Poco F1 fans but it definitely offsets the Realme X2 with 120Hz display. Let us have a rundown of the features, specs, prices, models, and availability showcased during the launch event.
It’s been a year and a half since the first POCO was launched. To retain the spot in the market, POCO India decided to launch the new X series of Poco ahead of the much-awaited Poco F2 launch. With the specs in hand, it confirms that it is a copy of the Chinese variant, Redmi K30. Having said that, the phone is still a good buy in the mid-segment range.
The new POCO phone has been developed keeping Gaming and Tech enthusiasts in mind. It has a higher refresh rate, and long-lasting battery, HDR display, headphone jack, and many more features.
Let us touch base all the 4 key sections of the phone, namely display, performance, camera, and design.
Talking about the aesthetics, PocoX2 will sport a tall body design with a display of 6.67 inches Full HD+. The aspect ratio of 20:9 gives a better cinematic display and a better viewing angle. Flushed side-mounted and 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 panels at back as well as the front, the phone has a metallic frame rather than a plastic one. Poco X2 gives a pass to an OLED panel.
It has a fingerprint scanner mounted on the right side with a superlinear speaker at the bottom, alongside USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm jack. The brand has retained the headphone jack too with Qualcomm’s Hi-Fi DAC to provide with the best sound experience.
The most talked-about USP of X2 is the 120Hz refresh rate panel at this price range. The #SmoothAF will be an amazing choice for the gamers promising faster response, reaction and a lot smooth app user experiences.
POCO has resolved the battery usage issue also in X2 by providing the technology of Intelligent Dynamic Refresh Rate. In other words, when using the phone, the refresh rate automatically will pop up to 120Hz, and when idle it will remain at 60Hz. In comparison with Realme X2 (60Hz display), POCO X2 is less expensive, better and smoother.
It is being launched in 3 colors, namely Atlantis Blue, Matrix Purple, and Phoenix Red.
Talking about the performance, X2 will be powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 G, Adreno 618 GPU – 15% faster graphics rendering. Coming up in combinations of 6GB/ 8GB RAM LPDDR4X and 128GB/ 256GB UFS 2.1 storage, Poco uses UFS 2.1 storage to assist electric load times.
Also, POCO X2 comes with better hardware support – using Liquid Cool tech allowing 300% faster heat transfer as compared to the phones without this tech. PocoX2 comes with a 4500mAh battery with a 27W fast charging. A fast charger adapter is also bundled in the box.
Now talking about the optics, a good camera legacy has been created by the POCO X2. On the rear, it will have 4 sensors starting with 64 MP Sony IMX686, 2 MP Depth Sensor, 8 MP Ultra-wide-angle camera, and 2MP macro sensor. The main 64MP camera will have Sony IMX686 with an F1.89 lens. It will be coming for the first time in India.
On the front, there will be a dual in-screen camera- 20MP primary, 2MP depth sensor. The front-facing in-screen camera allows you to capture portrait selfies, obviously better than a notch.
Poco has experimented and come up with astonishing camera-related features for videographers. They include RAW image capture (for professional photographers) and a 960FPS slow-motion capture. There is a brand new VLOG mode feature that automatically does the post-processing having 7 different styles. POCO X2 camera claims to perform amazingly in low light conditions as well. The results posted on twitter have come out really good.
There are a few features that Poco has implemented from the feedback received with Poco F1. They include making available Kernel source on GitHub, enabling of IR Blaster, RAW Camera Capture, resolution of connectivity issues in VoWiFi and P2i Splash-proof tech.
