Poco India has officially announced today about its second launch of the year – POCO M2 Pro. The first launch was Poco X2 in February. Going with the government guidelines, the company has sent a virtual Poco M2 Pro launch invite to everyone.
M2 Pro launch event is happening in India on July 7 at 12 pm IST (2:30 AM ET). Similar to its recent online launches, it will be held in a pre-recorded launch event and accessible on Poco’s official social media channels.
The device is listed on the partner e-commerce site- Flipkart where the flash sale will go live post-launch. It has a dedicated microsite page that reveals the rear of the phone without divulging any more details.

From the teaser shared one can only get a sneak peek of the rear side. The graphics show a quad rear camera setup in square shape and “48MP” text written above the camera housing the device. The rear fingerprint scanner is conspicuously absent on the backside. A sensible deduction is that the company is working on a side-mounted or in-display fingerprint sensor.
Poco M2 Pro rumoured specs
Going by the speculations, M2 Pro is likely to be powered by the same SD720G chipset as the Redmi Note 9 Pro. In May the device had received BIS certification listed with model number M2003J6CI. The same model number was spotted on the Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi Alliance sites hinting at Bluetooth v5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity features.
Though Xiaomi has a record of rebranding its new launches, but it is hoped against hope that Poco M2 Pro does not turn out to be a tweaked version of Redmi Note 9 Pro or Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. But it hardly matters if the end-user gets a flagship device at a competitive price.
Apart from X2 Pro, the company might also launch long-awaited true wireless earphones aka Poco Pop Buds. Apart from this, the parent company Xiaomi launched Redmi 9A and 9C in Malaysia a couple of days ago.
