It has been more than a week since Poco India was announced as a separate legal entity from its parent brand Xiaomi. The news of Poco being alive brought cheers among the fans. But with no concrete updates on the product roadmap, timelines, marketing strategy, execution plans and whether POCO will retain the tag of the most affordable budget phones gave rise to speculations.
To give some rest to these rumors, Poco India General Manager, C Manmohan, cleared the air on the future. In an interview with PTI, he categorically announced that they are ready to launch their next product in the Indian market in February 2020.
“We will launch our new phone next month. We will start online and then progress to additional channels,” he said.
The only device coming from Poco has been Poco F1 which was launched in August 2018. Poco India also announced on its official Twitter handle!
Poco India executive did not divulge any more details on the name, specs, features, and price of the upcoming gadget. But if we go by hints dropped in the 18-sec teaser, it is likely to be labeled Poco X2. But fans can see rumors on Poco F2 Lite also.
Manmohan also clarified that Poco F2 is very much real and is in pipeline and it may arrive anytime this quarter. He added saying Poco F2 will
…essentially be the successor to the Poco F1, offering a similar value-for-money proposition with a top-end SoC and a large amount of RAM”
There have been few leaked images of next-gen Poco specs doing rounds of the internet. If they are to be believed then Poco X2 should be a rebranded version of the Redmi K30. Its 4G variant had been launched in China recently.
The leaked images are from firmware being tested by Polish testers. The model description shows that it is Poco X2 and is a rebranded version of Redmi K30. It can be clearly seen from the image
- India Launch – POCO X2 – V220.127.116.11.QGHINXM
- China Launch – Redmi K30 4G – V18.104.22.168.QGHCNXM
An anonymous tipster had emailed the images to YouTuber RevAtlas stating that Poco has 3 products coming in 2020. The screengrab suggests that it will run the MIUI with Poco Launcher on top. It will be powered by Snapdragon 765 processor with 6GB RAM and a 5000mAh battery. The anonymous tipster confirmed that Lite will sport a “high resolution very high” camera but at a “millet model price cheaper than before.” It should be an affordable version of Poco F2.
We have to live by these rumors till the time Poco India does not officially confirm. Share with us your excitement towards a Poco-ish February.
