UPDATE: Poco F1 will get the MIUI 11 update between 22-31 October 2019
While Xiaomi users are excited about getting the MIUI 11 update to their devices, users of Poco F1 are still wondering about the OTA update schedule. Xiaomi is going to unveil the list of devices getting the MIUI 11 Global Stable ROM update based on Android 10 today at the launch event of Redmi Note 8 Pro.
Alvin Tse, the Head of Pocophone Global, confirmed at the end of last month that Android 10-based MIUI 11 update will indeed be rolled out for Poco F1, the first flagship smartphone from Xiaomi-owned sub-brand. He even mentioned that the update to Poco F1 devices will be followed after Xiaomi rolls out MIUI 11 update globally.
Currently, Xiaomi is rolling out the stable version of MIUI 11 in China in three batches that will run till early November. The global rollout is expected to take place after that. Rumours suggested that Poco F1 users will be able to see the MIUI 11 update in the first quarter of 2020.
The availability issue of Poco F1 could be the main reason for not getting any definite information on the MIUI 11 update for the model. The device is not available in China itself, neither does it recommended for use in the U.S. due to GSM band incompatibilities. According to a Community post on Mi.com, Poco F1 can get the MIUI 11 update later this year.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset-based Poco F1 was released in August 2018 with Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box. It features a dual rear camera (12MP + 5MP) and a 20MP front camera for selfie lovers.
Poco F1 currently runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. As per the OTA update schedule, the last upgrade rolled out by Xiaomi for the device was MIUI 10.3.8.0.PEJMIXM on September 21 that included the Android security patch for September 2019.
