In the last few years, many major tech companies have tried developing some kind of payment system of their own. The latest to try their hands on such a system is OnePlus. The service, which will be called OnePlus Pay, is said to compete with the likes of Google Pay and Apple Pay.
The service was announced during the launch of the latest OnePlus 7T, which took place in India on September 26. While the details are blurry at best, one thing we are sure of is that the service will be launching sometime next year.
It is interesting to wonder why OnePlus is working on a payment system when many other smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung, Apple and Google already have one in place. Unless the Chinese giant does not offer something completely unique, the chance of OnePlus Pay becoming successful is pretty slim to none. Also, the company needs to make sure that it supports a number bank since Apple and Google both have a long list of banks which are supported by the platform.
Though the launch date is unknown, we expect OnePlus Pay to hit the market later next year, most probably when the company reveals the next generation of its smartphone lineup.
