With OnePlus stealing the spotlight with its latest generation of devices, many people are wondering when they will get Android 10 on their smartphone. The Chinese tech company is one of the first companies bringing the latest version of Android to a lot of its devices.
Thanks to the beta program, now we know exactly which phones will be getting the sweet Android treatment. Surprisingly, devices as old as OnePlus 5 will be getting updated. We can say OnePlus does live up to its promise of supporting older devices. That being said, let us take a look at when your favourite OnePlus devices will be updated with the latest version of Android.
OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro Android 10
This year’s flagship devices will be running Android 10 out of the box. The company is wasting no time or resources developing Android 9 for these devices.
OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro Android 10
The last generation of smartphones has already received the latest version of Android on their smartphones, thanks to OnePlus’ quick update delivery schedule. The company made the jump on Android in the last week of September.
Some users report that the OnePlus 7 series Android 10 build is full of bugs, something we have talked about in the past. While other users report that they have absolutely no problems whatsoever with the latest update.
It is quite possible that the company is now well aware of the Android 10 bugs and has delayed the delivery of Android 10 indefinitely.
OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T Android 10
It was expected that these phones will start getting the OTA sometime later this month. However, this is quite unlikely following the backlash the company received for releasing buggy Android 10 on the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.
We expect OnePlus to quickly take a look at this and make Android 10 possible on these devices as soon as possible. Speculations suggest that the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T will get the update sometime by the end of the year. OnePlus earlier promised that OnePlus 6 series devices will receive Android 10 Beta update by the end of September, which also turned out to be false.
OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T Android 10
Both devices were launched way back in 2017. They are about to surpass the 2-year mark after which even Google stops supporting newer Android versions. However, things are different when it comes to OnePlus. The company will be updating its older lineup of hardware with Android 10 in June 2020.
These will be the last generation of devices which will be updated to Android 10. It is quite surprising to see an old phone getting the sweet Android 10 treatment.
What happens to earlier devices?
Unlike other smartphone manufacturers, OnePlus has updated the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T with Android 9, which is something no other smartphone manufacturer does. OnePlus fans should really be happy considering the fact that the OnePlus 3 is now 3-year-old device.
