Today was the first day of Unlock Phase 1.0 in Mumbai. The city experienced massive congestion on both the Eastern and Western Express Highways during the office hours. The distance of around 5 km on expressways of Mumbai witnessed heavy traffic jams on Monday morning. It reminded of good old pre-Covid days.

As per the latest orders from Maharashtra government, ‘Mission Begin Again’, private offices had been allowed to open but with 10 per cent capacity only. The government offices can work up to 15 per cent attendance only. Though many activities are still under lockdown, one could witness thousands on the roads.

BEST and NMMT had announced that their fleet is ready to carry officegoers from Monday. But today people took to private transport to commute to their work places leading to choking of the roads of Mumbai.

As per the Unlock guidelines, the Maharashtra state government has permitted only 1+2 members in cabs and 3 wheelers. Many 2-wheeler riders were seen travelling with a pillion though not allowed under the guidelines.
