It’s been a few months since Xiaomi released MIUI 11 that was supposed to embrace the Android 10 features in Mi and Redmi phones. The Chinese OEM continues to roll out MIUI 11-based updates to its devices, but that didn’t stop the company from teasing the next-generation Android skin MIUI 12. If we remember, the company announced MIUI 11 in the same month last year.
As of now, Xiaomi only teased the logo of MIUI 12 on Weibo that tells us a few things about the possible changes in the next-generation skin. The logo depicts a different font style compared to MIUI 11. The word “MIUI” is written in smaller font size compared to the number “12” that indicate the Chinese OEM might hold on to the minimalistic design of the skin. Lastly, the word 12 has multiple colors on it, suggesting the UI of the next OS skin might come up with some color patterns.
Just like its predecessor, MIUI 12 might be primarily designed to adopt the next Android Version 11 in Xiaomi devices. Hence, we expect it to release in the second half of 2020 or the third quarter of the year to be precise. However, the release of MIUI 12 doesn’t necessarily need Android 11 to launch beforehand because we have earlier seen that MIUI 11 update has been released for devices based on Android 9 Pie as well.
MIUI 11 brought a lot of features that improved the privacy, security, and stability of the software. We do not yet know which features Xiaomi will incorporate in its next-generation Android skin. Please stay tuned to PhonesWiki for further updates on that and let us know what features you would like to see on MIUI 12.
