Vivo’s gaming exclusive smartphone brand iQOO is all set for a launch in the Indian markets. The brand was continuously teasing its entry in the Indian market and has finally announced a launch date for its first device. iQOO India tweeted the d-day for its launch, i.e. February 25th. Notably, earlier rumors also suggested the same date. The company’s next flagship device iQOO3 will be a Flipkart exclusive for Indian users. Interestingly, the same device is ready for launch in China on the very same date.
Speculations regarding the upcoming smartphone were already making rounds, and the presence of a Snapdragon 865 chipset was almost inevitable. The company is pressing the fact that the forthcoming iQOO launch will mark the entry of the first 5G smartphone launch in India. This only became possible because Samsung’s upcoming S-20 devices will support 4G networks, and they haven’t revealed anything regarding the possibility of 5G versions of the smartphones.
iQOO’s plans to enter the Indian market didn’t come earlier than the last month when the company official’s formally announced their intention to launch a Snapdragon 865 powered 5G smartphone in the country. In fact, they have already cleared the air regarding the battery issues, which is prevalent among high-performance phones and have added that the phone is loaded with ‘best in class’ battery tech.
In the words of Gagan Arora, who is the MD of iQOO India, “iQOO has the potential to become a global brand. And with that thought, India will be the first market outside China.”
As for the specifications of the phone, it will be a feature-packed high-end smartphone and will reportedly be loaded with 6.44-inch High Definition AMOLED display, Snapdragon 865 SoC processor, 12GB RAM and 256 GB storage and will run on Android 10. The phone will feature a 48 MP + 64 MP camera, coupled with 13MP + 13MP + 2MP in a quad setup. The phone will be powered by 4370 mAh battery and will support 55 W fast charging.
The phone has already sent a wave of excitement among the gaming smartphone enthusiasts and is expected to give a fierce competition to the recent launches by OnePlus and Asus.
