MIUI 12, the latest 2020 Android skin was launched back in June. With MIUI 13 already in the works, it was stipulated that a stable MIUI 12 update will be rolled out to all pending eligible Xiaomi smartphones by October end. In the first phase, models such as Mi 9, Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro, Redmi K20, and Redmi K20 Pro received the new skin.

The next set of devices which received stable MIUI 12 update were Poco X2, Mi 9 Lite, Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Mi 9 SE, Mi Note 3, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Note 7, and Note 7S, Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi Note 8T, Redmi Note 8, Mi Note 10, Poco F1, Mi MIX 3, Mi 8 Pro, Poco M2 Pro and few more. MIUI 12 has been rolled out to almost 90% Chinese variants.

However, many eligible Global (MI), India (IN), Europe (EU), Indonesia (ID), and Russia (RU) variants are still at different stages of beta rollout. If you cannot wait anymore but your phone is eligible to receive a stable ROM, then there is a simple trick to force install MIUI 12 updates.

Before you proceed to force install of MIUI 12 on your device, it is always advisable to crosscheck for any system update your phone might have received.

Head straight to phone’s “Settings” – “About phone” – “System update”
Tap onto the option – “Check for updates”
Check for the MIUI 12 version and file size – It should be v12.0.2.0.QEJMIXM and the file size should be 790MB
Click on the MIUI 12 “Download update” button only if the information of the update matches.

It is only when you find that there are no updates available, click on the “Check for updates” to ensure that you do not miss any official information. If you are prepared to force install MIUI 12, go ahead with the following set of instructions.

There are specific methods where you can jailbreak and root your devices to get the update. Further, some YouTubers may advise you to download Chinese versions of the beta version. We would want to warn you, because not only they are laggy and glitchy, but such actions can also void your phone’s guarantee terms.

So, if you are not supposed to root your device legally, and also it is not fair to have third-party beta versions, then what should you do? It is actually simple. All you have to do is follow the steps as written below:

  1. Go to Phone’s Settings
  2. Search for the term ‘region‘ in the search bar of settings
  3. From all the countries that appear, select your country, say ‘India’ as a phone’s region
  4. After this, you need to go to the ‘About Phones’ Menu is settings, and look for updates
  5. Repeat the above steps again a couple of times if no notification is visible
