First Oppo Watch with “Flexible Hyperboloid Display” launch confirmed for March 6

In the first-ever teaser shared, Oppo has released a first full look of its first smartwatch Oppo Watch. It will be unveiled in an event on March 06 alongside the much-hyped launch of its next smartphone, the Oppo Find X2. OPPO has teased its first smartwatch with a square design. It looks to be a replica of Apple watch.

The first glimpse teased shows the design which is no different from Apple’s Watch. But as far as Oppo Watch’s functions are concerned they will surely match the offer price.

The launch event will happen at 10.30 am CET on March 6 (9:30 am GMT / 3.00 pm IST). The company will live stream the launch of both its products.

But there is one remarkable difference between Oppo and Apple’s watches. The reach of Oppo Watch will be more because it will work with Android phones.

Unlike other brands, Oppo would have gone for building its own custom software for the watch. Fossil has gone for Google’s Wear OS but ditched by Samsung,  Huawei, and Xiaomi.

Oppo released another video teaser to give the ultimate visual experience in-store. The company claims that “the #OPPOWatch Flexible Hyperboloid Display will take your expectations over the edge and beyond.”

Talking about the features, Oppo watch is confirmed to be curvy and shielded by a 3D glass on top. The curved design sports side contours and a metal rim. The latest image in the event announcement tweet we can see a silicone sports band. But the leaked image above hints at a more formal leather strap. Also, the image teased today shows two color options – gold and blue. Similar to Apple watch, Oppo wearable will come with interchangeable straps on the smartwatch.

The setting page image posted by leakster reveals four alternatives namely- “Multifunction Button”, “Battery”, “Password” and “More’. The “Multifunction Button” is assumed to give the option of customization of physical buttons on the sides. “Battery” option hints at a user-controlled lifespan of the watch. The password option hints at users’ choice to lock favorites.

Another image teaser points out to the presence of a microphone. It indicates calling features and maybe voice support for Google Assistant. Oppo Watch is anticipated to promote wireless charging

Rumors point out to Oppo Watch coming with support for Electrocardiogram(ECG) similar to Apple Watch ECG function in Series 4 models. But all this will add up to the cost.

Apart from features, rumors about them and launch date there have been no disclosures on the price or any other details about the watch. As of now, you will have to settle down with only this piece of information.

The final official specs will be unveiled by Oppo at the March 6 event. But we have 2 more days to go to the countdown of the event. Till then expect more teasers in the build-up.

Oppo had earlier planned to unveil its products at the MWC 2020 in Barcelona but the outbreak of coronavirus forced the company to change its plans.
