How to download WhatsApp status videos on Android without any third party app

WhatsApp has a new Instagram stories type of feature which lets you put photos and videos as your status for 24 hours. After 24 hours, the videos or photos that you post are automatically removed. You can check the name of the contacts who view your status while it was live. WhatsApp doesn’t allow others to download photos or videos from your status.

But what if you want to download video or photo from someone else’s status. Of course, you can use third-party apps that let you do this but what’s the fun in that. Plus there are security risks associated with installing malicious third-party apps which comes from unverified publishers. But there is a workaround on Android by which you can save videos from others status to your phone without having the need to install any third-party app.

For saving photos from contacts status, you can easily take a screenshot and save the photo. If you want to save videos, follow the steps mentioned below. You will be able to save videos from WhatsApp status without having to install any extra app if you follow the trick given below:

How to download WhatsApp status video on Android

  1. Open WhatsApp on your Android and make sure you have seen the video of the person that you want to save.

  2. Now open any file manager app on your device. Most Android devices come with a file manager app pre-installed. If yours doesn’t have one, you can install Files by Google by clicking here.

  3. Now open Files app and go to its Settings by clicking three dots at the top.

  4. Activate option to Show hidden files as shown above in the screenshots.

  5. Now go to internal storage and navigate to WhatsApp> Media>.Statuses

  6. You will find all the active statuses that your contacts have put up in this ‘.Statuses‘ folder. You will find both photos and videos here.

  7. Now copy the files that you desire to save and move them to some other folder.
