For the past 18 hours, players were unable to log in to their accounts on Destiny 1 & 2. Yesterday players had reported a non-starter issue which led to complete shut down. They were not able to login to the title from the main screen on any of the platforms- PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Stadia. Since then, Bungie devs were trying to resolve critical server issues which they assumed had initially bugged Destiny 2.
In order to fix and retest, Destiny’s “core services” had to be re-started on the server end. Due to this Bungie devs had to bring down both the servers for maintenance.
It was only few minutes back that Bungie devs have confirmed via Twiter that the services on Destiny 1 and 2 have been restored. The players can continue with their games without any “further service interruptions.”
It took more than 18 hours to fix server related issues. Though Bungie Devs kept on updating the status on help.bungie.net/@BungieHelp at regular intervals but ETA was not in sight.
Bungie help also informed that services to Destiny 1 have been restored. Now onwards, players can resume with their games using Clan features.
Bungies have provided fix but not given clarity on the root cause of the breakdown. In case players continue to experience an outage, they have been requested to report using Help forums.
Gamers are speculating that the cause of the outage can be either due to new content or support to launch on Stadia. Since the release of Shadowkeep, issues with Destiny game have become constant. But being a relatively new online game, there are bound to be teething issues considering the scale of changes being done at the back end. This, in turn, has led to creeping frustration among players.
