If you are planning a change of career this year, then IT is definitely a great option. According to Glassdoor 9 of the top 10 jobs, this year are in technology. They based their findings on earning potential, overall job satisfaction, and the number of job openings.

Let’s take a look at the top 3 IT careers to work for in year 2021.

Java Developer

Number one of the top careers for 2021 is becoming a Java developer. The median salary for Java developers is currently $90,830 and it is a career with a high job satisfaction rating.

Java is a programming language, which has become increasingly popular. Java developers design and build Java applications, and as Java is used so widely this means a lot of scope for interesting and varied work in any number of sectors.

You might find yourself building an app for a company, or you could find yourself working on internal systems to make them more efficient.

To start on a career as a Java developer the best idea is to start learning java with a programming course and then find a way to build some applications for yourself. This will both solidify your training and show potential employers what you are capable of.

Enterprise Architect

Enterprise architects are concerned with the technology strategy that is to be employed by a business.

Top-level executives will have a great idea of what direction they want a business to go in, but they will not be quite so knowledgeable about what the best IT solutions are to support that growth. That is where enterprise architects come in.

It is important that they have a good understanding of new and emerging technologies, as well as how they interact with legacy technologies and how this all might impact the day to day running of a business.

With more and more businesses moving towards the cloud, it can be advantageous for enterprise architects to seek out cloud certification training which serves to improve their own knowledge and show their current and potential employers that they can be trusted to look after the IT infrastructure.

The average salary for Enterprise Architects is $131,361.

Data Scientist

Data scientists are primarily concerned with finding ways to collect and organize the inordinate amount of data that is produced by or relevant to an organization.

They work closely with people within the business to understand what their needs are, and then use this information to design programs that will first acquire relevant data, and then organize it in such a way that it can be used.

Once the data has been collected, cleaned and organized the data scientist will design queries and programs that can use the information to make predictions and answer questions for the company about current trends, and what trends can be expected for the future.

This is highly valuable because it allows businesses to make more informed decisions, which can give them a competitive edge.

The median salary for data scientists is $94,280, and the top paid twenty-five percent of data scientists earned $125,140.
